I'm about about to replay the MMX series. Are there any patches I should know about for each game?

>> No.8363148

yeah play on original hardware on a crt
set dash to R button

>> No.8363204

1-4 are fine vanilla. Get the enhancement patch for 5 to make Alia shut up. 6 has a patch that tries to unfuck the game but you'll probably have a bad time regardless.

they added tentacle sucking sounds to the psp remake

There's a patch that adds that extrt RAM chip to the game, so you won't suffer lag in stages like Armored Armadillo's

X3 Zero patch

>> No.8365673

X1 has an SA-1 chip romhack to remove slowdown and implement saving the passwords to SRAM.
X2 has an MSU-1 romhack for CD quality sound.

Neither of these are must-haves but if you really want to play them at their very best because you're a diehard fan, go for it.

How's the Legacy Collection?

SA1 chip you mean?
>>8363140
yeah, the retranslations probably

I wish there was a patch to add the extreme auto charge and auto fire modes.

Yeah, SA1

>> No.8367030

Get the SA-1 patch for X1

Get the Zero Project hack for X3, even if you don't play as Zero it makes the game better for X; but get v3 of the patch, v4 actually makes it worse

if you're emulating, for X4 just play the PC version, it'll be smoother than any emulated version

If you play anything post X4 you're not my friend

What's the difference between v3 and v4?

I love it, lots of fun achievements to aim for. 10/10

There is an undub patch for X4 if you're really bothered by the voice acting. It replaces the english cutscenes with the japanese cutscenes and adds subtitles.
Zero patch for X3 is a must have, and there are improvement patches for X5 and X6.

That's one of the few places in vidya where I actually liked the extra lag. It made the last part of the stage more dramatic, especially if you throw out a fully charged X-buster shot there.

The first time I heard about this was the last Megaman thread I visited. Blew my mind. I got Tendonitis from claw grip playing too much mega man as a kid.

X5 has a patch to remove dialogue.
Japanese version of X7 gives you higher damage output, so enemies don't take quite as long to kill.
