I remember when I was younger I used to sort of idolise treasure as the masters of their craft who made some of the best 16-32 bit games ever that pissed over everything Konami was putting out at the time. Then I started playing more of their games and I realised a lot of them are either mediocre side scrollers/run and guns with not much interesting about them besides the art styles or gimmicky dull shit. It’s like how people say Gunstar Heroes is the best game on the Genesis and every single website/blog/retard on YouTube slaps it right near the top or at the very top of their best Genesis games list, and then you play it and it’s just a decent run n gun. Same with Guardian Heroes. Went into that one expecting one of the best games for the Saturn as everyone hyped it up as but it’s just a ‘Press A to Win’ belt scroller where you have to constantly swap lanes because enemies keep jumping away from you, broken up by a barebones plot. Looks nice though, I won’t deny and they always have consistently good music and visuals

OK, I agree with the Dice Palace. Melon Bread was a joke boss (literally) and there was this annoying boss that you are forced to fight without guns.

Contra Hard Corps was pure insanity, but it lacked the 'explosiveness' of Gunstar Heroes. It wasn't as accessible either, but that was part of its charm.
