Is emulating this thing even really possible? Obviously devs have worked out the issues with getting it running but the bizarre controller makes it a pain at the best on keyboard and absolutely impossible on other controllers. Is it even worth it? The only emu that isn’t ruled by Retroarch is some shady Russian one that mainly runs 3DO games with Jaguar as a shits and giggles bonus.

I don't need two hands to hold a controller while pushing buttons on a keyboard. The bigger issue is finding interest in that terrible library of games.

just be patient and snag a system for a reasonable price

obv not recommended for everyone but if youre into that era of gaming its not bad

The only Jag game worth playing is Doom and the PSX version uses it as a base so you get the same levels but with more content anyway. The Jaguar as a console is entirely obsolete and worth forgetting.

zool was fun but i kept getting stuck and giving up - there is an "exploration" aspect that filters me (gamesack as well so i dont feel that bad about it)


i didnt mention pitfall or flashback despite them being decent theyre playable elsewhere without any noticeable drawbacks


most people can skip the jaguar
but i got heavy into atari after the 2600/7800 and starting snagging their other systems

id say its worth it overall
just dont pay BiN prices on ebay

It's shit, it's THEORETICALLY possible to emulate it. Heck, the schematics for the hardware are freely available. There's even a MiSTer beta FPGA core that nobody is working on cause nobody cares enough about the Jaguar.
