Truly the best way to play on a CRT.

Is this some sort of Europoor problem from UHF consoles or something you pulled from your ass?
>2450MHz magnetron interfering with a 62MHz transmission

>> No.8343869

Well, I have still played the first Shenmue on my Dreamcast via RF on a CRT during Christmas like 10 years ago.
Nowaday I own several professional CRTs, PC CRTs and uplscalers, and yeah, the Dreamcast looks amazing on a G520, but I don't think it took much away from the experience.

RF = RGB > component > S-Video > composite

i have atrocious signal interference in most places i have lived in california

people have baby monitors, people use various shitmon for routers/signal extenders, the neighbors kids have walkie talkies, etc

when i use RF i always use a modular to get av output and a stable picture

nah even pre-wifi/cellphone RF was fucking trash. So fucking finicky, and a pain in the ass to hook up. And you'd have to sit there fiddling with the connector trying to get it *just right* to reduce as much snow/interference as possible. There was absolutely no reason to ever use that shit from the late-80s onward when *at least* composite became standard.

im living in a city and got my 2nd gen and microcomputers out and I think im going to have to do this now. I thought my tvs or cables were fucked because of the interference I am getting. Are you using something like system > RF cable > AV modulator > TV? I only ever used the opposite, getting an AV system to work on my old RF input only TV..

>> No.8346269

>>8343947
Maybe it's because I was a retarded sperg but RF didn't seem that bad to me in the PS1 era, when dad fucked up the composite sound input. Last time I had to use it, anyway.

>> No.8346353 [DELETED]

>>8343856
I'm probably old enough to be your dad and would have picked RGB, composite, or S-Video over RF anyday. You're like those kids meming VHS and audio cassette back into existence. I'll bet you have a tube amplifier as well.

Oh damn bro, not the Anon you were talking to but you might have saved my ass. NTA but I was looking into RF to CRT because that's all the TV I have has, but had no idea how to properly set things up.

If one signal can fit so many channels together, why does a composite port dedicated to one signal still look so terrible?

>> No.8351753

>>8346662
are you talking about an rf demodulator? That might make it easier to find what you need. Some VCRs do that as well but I haven't seen a dedicated unit in a while.

>> No.8351762

Can you use this on modern displays since they don't have RCA input anymore?

>> No.8351802

>>8351753
Absolute idiot here, but what's the difference between using a modulator and demodulator?

>> No.8351831

>>8351753
A/V > rf modulator > TV is what I use. Works for any SD console. I've connected my PS3 to it but only PS1/2 games scale correctly. Absolute godsend for connecting Jap consoles to my RF only TV since no channel 99.

If it has an antenna jack yes.

If he knew what he was talking about it would obviously have to be a demodulator. But he's probably just saying random words he heard.
Dedicated devices are still made and if you want a small set it and forget it device they're ideal. But they're not cheap, especially considering what's in them. Any cheap easy to find VCR will do it. You can also get external TV tuners, which are smaller and generally cheaper.

That's ok. There's really no reason you'd need to understand what either is. All you need to know is that the fucktard who keeps saying he uses an "rf modulator" is retarded and what's needed in that scenerio is an demodulator.

With all this talk of modulation and demodulation, would someone in the know please let me know if this setup would work at all?

TV RF to https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XC9Y3VB/ with https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HNCPR92 attached so I can hook up multiple consoles. Or do I need one of those expensive demodulators that are $80 to connect to instead of the modulator I linked?

Awesome, thanks. I tried reading up on modulators and demodulators but I was absolutely lost and not sure if I was even reading the right stuff. Thinking on it, if I connected a coax splitter to the TV RF plug and then a SNES via coax, and that modulator via coax, do you suppose I could run the SNES just with channel 3/4 switching? My SNES has a strange bit of visual artifact when plugged in via composite, but is fine when using coax for some reason.

Do modern displays even support analog TV? It hasn't been transmitting in this country for years.

>> No.8352902

>>8352823
The RF modulator you linked and Nintendo's "RF modulator" (which is really only a switch with the RF signal coming from the console) shown in the OP both have passthrough functionality so you wouldn't need a coax splitter/joiner.
