english patch when? or at the very least, subtitles? been on a major macross kick lately. what are your favorite macross games?

Sadly the closest I've made it toward playing a Macross game was Robotech Battlecry/Invasion/Macross Saga. Supposedly the PSP and Vita games are top notch though.

I like Scrambled Valkyrie on the SNES but holy hell is it hard. I can make it to stage 4 or 5 but i have never made it further.

There’s a pretty solid Saturn game that adapts DYRL?. Check that out

VFX-2 for the psx and Triangle Frontier for the psp are the best games so far.
The Vita one is bad either.

Do you remember Love for the Ps1 always blew my mind since the first time I played it.
Really long cutscenes, great voice acting by the original VAs, stunning visuals, followed the plot very closely without ever getting boring or turning into an interactive movie.

Is that the one where you could play from all the series up until Frontier? Anything for my nigga Basara.

I'm actually making a patch OP. But I'm more of a Robotech fan so I'm using the Robotech terminology when translating.
Some dialogues were too dull so I added memes too.

Play Super Robot Wars D. Spiritia mechanics with Basara, you can get Gamlin in an armored VF-11C, and Sivil is basically a game breaker.

can you forget about english patches for ps2? the console is so backwards developed that hacking isos with this architecture is nightmare for any modder. there is reason why most modders do english patches for psp games even if ps2 original exists, way easier there

>> No.8344352

Not retro, but Macross 30 for PS3 is fantastic. However you'll need either to know Japanese or rig up a phone to do constantly updating ML translation to enjoy it.

VFX2 for PSX is a ton of fun too.
>>8343717
All the PSP games allow this. Triangle Frontier has mission sequences based on M7 amd Dynamite 7. M7 is capped off with making Gepelenich listen to your song and D7 makes you protect the Space Whales.
It's awesome.

Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie on Super Famicom is a decent side scrolling shooter. It has Hikaru, Maximillian and Milia with their respective VFs with all three combat modes. The music and design is faithful to the original series. It has a health bar mechanic instead of one hit death but is still a decent challenge.

VF-X is total shit. The PSP games are probably the best, followed by the Arcade games, Scramble Valkyrie, then PS2, the PCE games, Saturn DYRL.
The PS1 games are awful. They weren't good when they came out either.

It's a combination of an MC who was the definition a character you either love or hate, along with the first 19 episodes or so being mostly pointless episodic shit. But once Battle 7 reunites with the colony after they were separated, the show only gets better and better

They're all arena fighters. Ace is the first, Triangle Frontier the last on PSP and it has perfected the formula. There are 2 more Bandai Macross games on PS3, but they are too simple and don't have a "campaign".
Macross 30 Ginga o Tsunagu Utagoe on PS3 is the last big Macross game, but I haven't played it yet. It looks fantastic tho.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Gamlin going from anti-Basara to a total bro, Gigil's song, Max's trench run, dat ending. So many good scenes.

>>8345893
M7 has soul
>some of the best Valkyrie designs in VF-11C, VF-17D, Fire Valk, even the enemy jets are cool
>varied set of songs that each represent a watershed moment in the series
>solid animation for key moments
>great voice acting
>fantastic friendship between Gamlin and Basara
The only real flaw is that the episodic battles relied too much on stock footage.

Very overrated just because it's on muh Snezz. Here are some actually good Macross shmups you should be playing instead:
