So, Atari is making new releases of previously unreleased games, the initiative is called Atari XP, what do you think of that?

They should just partner with Atari Age and release them there.

If they're not finishing SwordQuest then they can GTFO.

>These include Aquaventure, Saboteur, and Yars’ Return, a sequel to Yars’ Revenge that first appeared on the Atari Flashback 2 in 2005.

All three of these have been floating around the internet for decades now. Yawn.

arnt all of these on the various Atari Flashback consoles?

It would maybe be worth it if this was a multicart with a couple games on it done in a series like 3 to 5 games on a cart or something, but 50$ is hard to accept even as a coomlector.

Yes. I, too, wish Infogrames would stop trolling and just let Atari rest. No more "previously unreleased" games. No more Denny's tie-ins. ("Hashteroids?" Are you fucking kidding me?) No more overpriced mid-range Linux boxes shaped like a 2600. No more Atari-themed hotels in fucking Dubai. Stop parading the corpse of my childhood around like some even more bizarre version of Weekend at Bernie's.

>> No.8341518

Not sure about the other two but Yars Return, which is credited to Howard Scott Warshaw on the website, is complete bullshit. That's a fucking homebrew game. Howard Scott Warshaw never made a sequel to Yars Revenge.

I hope this dude covers them eventually. Really seems to respect the 2600.

Several of Atari's "lost" games have been subsequently found, so there's not much of a point unless you insist on having official cartridges. Plus Activision made better Atari games than Atari.

Even as one of the rare Atari fans on /vr/ even I am questioning who would want them.

Apart from those mindless consumers with more money than sense.

here's some ideas that i would part money with way before this:

** clone of atari st/ste comp that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy.
** clone of atari 8-bit comp that isn't just "raspberry pi + emulator"
** somehow releasing the atari panther, which was the 32-bit version of the jaguar that they should've released but didn't bc "64-bit" was a thing back then and they wanted to make a splash in the console market.

They've been available forever. Atari didn't even credit the creators.

Not very highly. $50 for an Atari cartridge and $150 for the "limited run" release.

Spoken like someone who has only ever played flashbacks/plug n plays. The 2600 had a gigantic wave of third party games after the success of Activision, and while a lot of them were garbage there's a ton of seriously great games that didn't really show up on any other machines.
