I haven't played MGS on the release because I've never owned PS, so I was looking at all that from the outsiders perspective, to me it seemed like people started saying that 2 is good out of nowhere.
With 4 it was reversed, I remember nothing but praises on the release but now it's regarded pretty low.

I myself am somewhat guilty of that. I bought a PS3 in 08 just for MGS4. That game is a travesty and only served to undo everything MGS2 did. It's so bad I choose to believe its just bad fanfic with a big budget behind it.
