What's worse, playing a 3D game with a D-Pad, or playing a 2D game with an analogue stick?

If you mean a 3D game with no analog movement, the later

2D game with an analogue is worse. There are even some 3D games I prefer to play with a d-pad (mainly Crash Bandicoot).

no shit considering crash has no analogue controls

To answer your reply, 2D with analogue.

Better yet, could a hybrid analog & digital control ever be possible? Maybe a digital 16 way input could be the best compromise?

Analog plus digital suck cause one always must be located in a shit place, ergonomically speaking.

This. Inb4 low IQ PlayStation fanboy posts a DualShock, one of the worst layouts.

I could play it with an analogue though, with an emulator.

there's plenty of 3d games that are fine with d pads though, tony hawk's pro skater is better with a d pad

According to /vr/ Mario 64 is best played on keyboard and emulated. Not even making this up.

Mario 64 DS was god awful on dpad

How is it? Playing Mario 64 with a dpad is far worse than playing the original Mario games with an analog stick.

2D with analog for sure

2D with analog-- HOWEVER if a 3D game has variable movement speed, playing with a D-Pad is a significant gimp.

>>8325013
I think the DS must've had a shitty pad, I remember hating movement in a lot of games on the DS.

I played MML and MDK with a d-pad on my BLEEM controller in the 90s, it was bleck. I play 2D games with sticks now and I'm alright.

Just compare stick to wheel in racing games, now that's a nightmare.
