I like 5 a lot, mostly for its music.

In no specific order. I'm also very partial to Bomberman Online (Dreamcast) and Bomberman Tournament.

Party Edition.

Mega Bomberman was pretty good

The best ones are the ones that support lots of players.
Bomberman 94 for PC Engine supports 5 players. It was originally Japan-only, until it was ported to the Wii Virtual Console. (Although if you're using a Wii, just play Bomberman Blast; it supports 8 players plus online play.)
Mega Bomberman was the Genesis port, which supports 4 players.
Saturn Bomberman supports 10 players. I haven't played this one myself, but it seems like everyone says it's the best Bomberman overall.

If you're looking for single-player Bomberman... I'm not much of a fan of that, and I have no opinion on which is best.

>> No.8301864

party edition is the one i grew up with, and i found it very jarring when i tried the others and they had no jetpacks or flamethrowers or other crazy characters with 100% unbalanced power ups

Bomberman

As somebody who's basically played almost all of them, and owns most of them, these are how I'd rank them. If they're not on here I either forgot or it's on a console I don't own.

Normal grid bombers:
1. Super Bomberman. (Yes, the first and most plain one really is probably the easiest and best to just pick up and play, I have more fun with it than any of the others)
2. Saturn Bomberman
3. Super Bomberman 2
4. Bomberman 93
5. Super Bomberman 3
6. Super Bomberman 4
7. Bomberman GB 3
8. Super Bomberman 5
9. Bomberman 90
10. Bomberman Max GBC games
11. Bomberman GB 2 (Jp) / Bomberman GB (US)
12. Bomberman Max GBA games
13. Bomberman GB (JP) / Wario Blast (US)
14. Bomberman II (NES)
15. Bomber Boy / Atomic Punk (I just couldn't get into this game, but it has a good remake of the NES bomberman as a bonus that I prefer over the original)
16. Bomberman (NES)

Experimental games:
1. Bomberman 64: The Second Attack
2. Bomberman 64
3. Bomberman Hero
4. Bomberman Wars
5. Saturn Bomberman Fight
6. Pocket Bomberman
7. Bomberman Quest
8. Bomberman Tournament
9. Bomberman Generation (I'd probably list this higher if I played more of it, the game itself is kinda like the 64 games though the mini game parts kind of turned me off)
10. Panic Bomber
11. Bomberman B-Daman

Can't speak about the Jetters games or the Land games, or the Playstation or Dreamcast games.

Basically all of these games are good. Even a low ranking here doesn't imply it's bad. I can't think of any bomberman game I just wouldn't play. The formula just werks, if you like the gameplay there's no way you'll like one and hate the others. The only one that I kinda noped away from was Generation, just because I'm not a big mini game fan.

This.
Avoid the SNES ones, as they are constrained to a single screen and suffer from input lags and slowdowns thanks the SNES highly deficient and slow CPU.

No they aren't. Go replay super bomberman 2, 3, 4, and 5 right now.

Come on now

>>8302367
2 is the only one that is not single screen, and it slows horrendously upon even the smallest modicum of action. The PC Engine and Mega Drive iterations wipe the floor with all the SNES games. Even the Amiga is able to perform with it's port of the original PC Engine game, which scrolls and has no slowdowns on the Amiga. The SNES hardware was simply too underpowered and shoddy to do justice to a game such as Bomberman.

bomberman tournament and bomberman generations (by far).
Generations is top tier for multiplayer as well though but there may be better ones.

Didn't we have this conversation before the last time I recommended Fight? Could be coincidence of course, but you posted the same image and all.

Well anyway, I just like Fight a lot. I think it's a pretty cool take on the formula, and I personally think it has an extremely fun and underrated battle mode. You've got focus on pummeling your friends with as many bombs as possible, instead of trying to outrun bombs on field and hoping your idiot friend runs into fire or gets trapped in a corner. I like that it has a short arcade style story mode of rapid fire stages so it's very easy to just pick up and play when all you have is 30 minutes or so. There's also lots of cool mechanics that would later go onto the N64 games like the powered up bombs, bomb jumping, and platforming in general.
