in your opinions, what would the best retro console be?
for me personally, i enjoyed the megadrive genesis the most. it had a wide range of games and was just all over amazing!

MEGADRIVE is MAN because hot stink

It's such a tough call between the two 16 bit powerhouses for me. the Genesis has more genre variety and more quality games, but the SNES has more 10/10 games

Pretty much this. I side with the SNES by just a slight margin just because of the larger amount of 10/10 games. After all, it's home to 5/8 of my all time favorite games. Genesis had a huge library of 8/10 games though, so it's still a console that I love to play to this day, even more-so than any of my current gen consoles.

Megadrive > SNES for me in the EU.

SNES > Megadrive in the US or Nippon where you got the good RPG games that made the SNES a truely amazing console.

I was round the age of 5 when my dad bought me the megadrive. I had sanic, power rangers and another awesome game with a hercules style guy that transformed into a werewolf or something. Shit was so cash.

I dunno about best retro console, but, god I loved Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Treasure of Tarmin

I must have put like 300-500 hours into that game, just exploring the mazes, picking up treasures, keys etc.

I remember playing it when I was 10 years old, I still love it today

Yeah, I didn't get too into Genesis back in the day (partly because my only friend with one had shit taste in games) but I've only recently realized how many damn good games we got screwed out of in the US.

Oh well, hooray for emulation.

If were operating under the notion than influential on current gen games = best, you'd really have to go with the PS1...

I love the NES and the Famicom the most, myself.

So many crazy accessories, amazing music and games that still can't be matched today.

The Sega Genesis has to be my favorite, just a lot of games in a certain style that I like.

Mega Drive

that soundchip influenced my taste in music to this day

>can't do transparencies natively
>its polygons are actually quadrangles instead of triangles
>multiple processors, hard to program
>terrible business decisions led to consumer distrust
I agree, it still is the best console
