Ughhhhh where to even begin. First off before anyone says otherwise kitsch bent parts are garbage. The benchmarks for kitsch bent parts are off significantly pic related. I can't even reach full running speed in a number of games without being really rough with the stick. And the problem with all of these third party controllers and parts is that they can change the way a game feels in big ways or in subtle ways, and that's the biggest problem with all of these solutions. If your not comparing how a game feels with a 64 controller in good condition to a third party option then you will never know how the devs truly intended that game to feel, because every game was developed for the controllers unique analog gate and sensitivity.

>> No.8295182

find a good one with a working stick and just clean it out and lube it. Despite being such a meme it's not hard at all to find N64 controllers with good sticks. It's not worth being autistic about trying to find a PERFECT oem stick.

No idea. I just bought my N64 on Sat and it's coming without a controller. Ordered a Hyperkin Captain after reading reviews that spoke positively about it, so hopefully I did not waste my money. Stick repair is simple, honestly. 2 part epoxy putty, smoothed out with some water and a fresh indent with a marble is all you need to do. Sand down if necessary and lube with white lithium grease and you’ll be as good as new.

Exactly this. Nintendo 64 controllers are unfortunately a very frustrating subject. Mint or barely used controllers exist, and some appropriate lubrication works to prevent wear, but there's just not any simple way to repair a worn or damaged controller without gutting other controllers for parts.

Kitsch Bent's parts are low quality and not worth it.

>>8295842
The story goes that Nintendo didn't add lubrication to the analog sticks sold in the west. I don't know if that's true, and it would be weird, but it would explain the comparably much lower wear. They had Mario Party in Japan, so it's not like the sticks weren't exposed to that.

I have never seen anyone show a single piece of evidence that Nintendo ever lubed up there controllers besides the two pieces of evidence in this thread. YouTube says you should lube them but never that they were, I back then never took apart a controller but remember how they felt and it wasn't a smooth lubed up type feel. I've always asked people in these threads when someone inevitably says Japanese controllers were lubed if they've seen this first hand and the answer every time has been no. It would make sense that they just used silicone grease but maybe it was something industrial grade, and with the power of autism finding the answer through just a picture is possible as this website has been able to find the location of Syrian rebels just from seeing the power lines in a picture.
