ZM is decent as a game but a bad remake. It's trying way too much to be Super Metroid and not Metroid and introduces inane new plotlines that discard the whole power suit origin just to re-give a new identical power suit for no particular reason.

The problem with remake is that it sacrificed consistency in favor of atmosphere and spookiness.
The mansion literally looks like it's been abandoned for years despite the incident occuring only 2 months prior to the start of the game.
Hell, even the lab is in shambles.
How are we supposed to believe they were conducting top level experiment in here?
