I fucking love this game. Still can't get past a third level. It's so hard, but addicting. Took me several attempts just to learn how to make it through stage 1.

The 3DS version is pure dogshit thanks to one simple reason. Awful controls, the 3DS was not designed for human hands.

The Saturn version is one of the best, because the Saturn wheel works wonderfully with the game. Of course, these days you can probably run it with a much fancier FFB wheel on your PC.

Power Drift is in the only western release and in part two of the three Japanese games. It does run at 60FPS on the 3DS. The game later got a solo release on the Japanese eshop which includes the ability to race as classic Sega characters like Joe Musashi and the Flagman from Outrun as an unlockable feature.

Played Turbo recently and shocked that it's obviously superior and I never even knew it existed.

Why is it never talked about? Did it come out too late or something? Maybe polygons were popular at that time or something?

>Customisation
>On course obstacles on course like police, oil slicks, barriers etc
>More cpu traffic
>Hitting cars isn't as big at slowing you down meaning the pace of the game is faster
>A turbo for extra speed
>Better sprites and graphics and effects (turboing over a oil slick sets it alight)

It just seems like the better game in every aspect yet I have never seen it talked about and only knew it existed by stumbling across it when searching up Outrun 2.

The pausing between stages ruins the flow of the game, and the upgrade system is a bit of a gimmick.

It's a decent sequel that's a bit underappreciated, but that makes sense given how it was never fucking ported to anything. There's no reason the console versions of shit like Outrun for the Saturn couldn't have had Turbo included.
