RCT3 isn't bad for what it is but one of the better things about RCT1-2 is that your stuff is functional and good looking even if you don't fine-tune every little detail. You can put in extra effort and make things even nicer, but there's a higher floor that needs less autism to appreciate. This makes them relaxing games.

Actually, I wouldn't really recommend it.
Check this Planet Zoo video out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLDOd3D5S4Q
Both "Planet" games are very similiar, the guy in the video took more than an hour (video is sped up at times) to make a half-way decent looking enclosure for 1 type of animal.
He is not alone, however. 99% of Planet game content being posted on Youtube is all about creating great-looking parks, buildings, etc.
Planet Coaster has the problem of looking really, and I mean REALLY, bland and sterile, unless you dedicate hours and hours of time to decorate everything.
Little fun fact, during the alpha versions of this game, most of the gameplay features were missing. Scenery creation has always been the main focus of Planet Coaster.

If that's your thing, however, then the game is for you.

I don't remember if RCT3 suffered from the same issue, but from what I remember, the parks in that game look aesthetically unpleasing because of artstyle choices, instead.

Meh, for scenario play I very often just min-max with the ruleset in pic-related.
If I really wanted to decorate stuff without cheating, I'd just beat the scenario first, make a lot of money from scam rides, and once I am swimming in enough money, I'll just delete my entire park and /then/ buy scenery and better looking rides.
To do both at the same time is kinda counter-intuitive in that scenery does almost nothing to help you win scenarios, unless you are trying to meet a specific excitement rating.
The excitement bonus you get is often very negligible for price efficiency.

Maybe someone figured out how to enjoy the game doing both, I guess most of the beginner parks are easy to play the same way as a hybrid.

>>8290383
>Are helixes worthless?
Depends on your definition of worthless.
The 2 main benefits of helixes is horizontal space conversion and an additional excitement boost.
For the former, you can descend much more easily in tight (length-wise) spaces.
For the latter, helix excitement bonuses stack up to 9 helixes, which is translated into
(9 * 254862) bit-shifted to the right by 16 = 34 = 0.34 excitement.
The biggest disadvantage of the helix is the cost. The excitement bonus is somewhat negligible, so it will take a while to make your money, even with optimal pricing.

>so no coaster using just helixes to descend meets normal coaster requirements.
That sucks, yeah. Does your coaster have inversions? There is a small list of coasters that will ignore all drop-related requirements when an inversion is present.
Just from memory, the Corkscrew coaster, Twister coaster and Giga coaster do this.

Thanks for posting this. So for easier reference, among coasters that can invert, the ones that DON'T make the inversion invalidate drop height and drop count are Flying, Heartline Twister, Standup, Vertical Drop and Wooden Roller Coasters? Are there ones I'm forgetting?

Such a short list is pretty easy to remember I think. Heartline is a limited gimmick ride, and Woodie you can remember by the fact of it only having inversions as a post-design addition. Flying, Standup and Vertical Drop are the only ones you might not expect (although it's in the name for Vertical Drop).

RCT1 & RCT2 had different aging mechanics.

While OpenRCT2 just multiplies ride-value at <5 months and <13 months age by 1.5x and 1.2x respectively, this is actually a "fix" to the "broken" system that was in place in the original RCTs.
In the original, <5 month old and <13 month old rides just added flat values into the equation, which led to rides with naturally low ride-value multipliers to have extremely inflated prices in their first 5 months.
This meant that you could effectively just spam as many flat rides as you wanted to get your early economy going and ace the rest of the scenario while swimming in cash.

But it doesn't just stop with flat rides and cash grab coasters, usually for OpenRCT2's age-value modifiers to ever catch up, you'd need a stellar excitement rating on most rides in the game, usually 9 excitement.
So in 95% of cases, your rides will be worth more in the original RCT and RCT2, than they will in OpenRCT2.

>> No.8295181

>>8295164
>low ride-value multipliers
Correction: it's usually not ride-value multipliers that are the issue, it's usually a ride's ratings themselves. Most flat rides naturally have very low ratings, leading to trash prices.

Rct3 has only better modding, i have hundreds of mod, rides, tracks and scenery, i know the graphic is shit, but it doesn't have an object limit like rct2, if openrct2 or any mod can remove that, i'm in. Also the first management was rct3 so i'm nostalgic of that shitty 3d graphic

I just tried it out now that you've mentioned it.
The first couple of years were kinda rough, but I was quickly able to build up my economy after I built my third coaster.
After my fourth coaster, I was practically swimming in money, so that wasn't an issue, anymore.

The real difficulty came from getting my park value up. I just cheesed it by building a bunch of launched looping coasters that do 20 laps.
There were probably less "cheaty" ways of doing this, but since there is no time limit and I basically have unlimited money, I was too bored to minmax using "real" coasters.

Is there any easier way to create walls rather than to click them one by one?

I remember a version of RCT in which you could just draw a line going through various tiles and drop a long wall or path in just one click. I made a shortcut for "next path" which helps in paths and rides, but it doesn't help with walls.

Retro-future/Post-modern I gather? It looks like the angled pieces other than the front edge are sunken lower than they should be, which is odd.

Walls should ALWAYS be placed on the inside tile so you don't get those ugly seams. Turn off clearance checks if you have to; there generally won't be visible clipping.

The building kinda looks like it's a sand sculpture. I bet it would look like a shopping mall at least if you Color some tiles to look glassy and put paths through. Otherwise it's weirdly big and doesn't look like a building someone would make for a reason.

Also that single mismatched path tile outside the 3D cinema galls me.

It shouldn't even be there. That t-junction is a separate decision point from the stall entrance making it 50% that guests path to it on exit instead of 100%.

I think he's going for tidiness. You're right that the popcorn stall would get more people checking it if it was just where the bad tile is in the first place, but then it wouldn't be snug against the building. To recitfy this I would swap the exit and the popcorn stall, and fix the tile.
