What is the single best arcade-exclusive game?
Bonus points if the game doesn't use specialized gimmick hardware, so it COULD have gotten home versions but just didn't.

imo it's the AvP beat-em-up. To my knowledge there still isn't a home version which is absolutely wild to me, you'd think it'd be included in some collection. Commonly regarded as one of the best games in the genre and it's arcade only.

Just learning there was apparently supposed to be a 32X version. Would have been worth getting one for that alone.

They mismanaged the FUCK out that franchise from day one. Anyway, this game came out for the arcades in that awkward time that produced games too complex for 4th gen ports but not enough for a standalone 5th gen release. At least they should have made a nice bundle release of this game and The Duel for the Saturn instead of just the latter.

They put it on their overpriced plug n play arcade stick system a year or so ago. Theres actually a bunch of arcade only stuff that did get "home" releases in an official capacity if you include those things.

Golden Axe 2 is a notch above the 1st for two important reasons. Improved combat and vastly improved magic using system. Everything else is on par or just slightly worse than the 1st. I've said for years it always felt more like Golden Axe 1.5 rather a proper sequel but it is still a competent game. If GA1 is C+ then GA2 is a B-.
>but not enough for a standalone 5th gen release

I guess Golden Axe III would be the *second* home sequel. I agree the Genesis-only sequels aren't bad at all; at most they're at the level of the Final Fight SNES-only sequels except for GA2 > GA3 and FF2 < FF3 arguably.

>make Revenge of Death Adder a launch title
You could get away with 5th gen standalone releases of some later arcades, but then again only massively popular stuff like Capcom and SNK fighting games; otherwise it would be pushing it; even Capcom bundled both Dungeons and Dragons games for the Saturn release. A System 32 game like Revenge would be pushing it A LOT; people pay more attention to console game evolution, but there's a big difference between a 1991 and a 1994 arcade game. And I really do love the game, honest.

The saturn WASNT a thing at that exact time though. That's the problem.

Segausa and SegaJapan acting like different companies most times, hated each other and hardly communicated towards a common goal.

Just look at the shit that went down with streets of rage 2 or fighting force or many others.

SegaJapan made the megacd and it failed. SegaJapan start working on the saturn but practically tell segaUSA nothing about it. segaUSA then starts work on the 32x, tells Japan but they dont care and basically ignore them.

segaUSA release the 32x thinking it's got like 4-5 years run. Turns out it's much less than that coz Japan told them nothing about the planned dates etc.

SegaJapan see the 32x and what usa is doing with it....wonder wtf this shit is meant to be. Tell developers to stop working on a shitty product that's going to be dropped within a year.
More bad blood between usa and Japan.

Sega genuinely are one of the most stupidest fucking companies around. Even today there total retards. They demand indie devs pay them a fortune for ips they dont care about, give consent to fan projects but then change there minds and threaten those people, steal credit for others work, bend the knee to fags/black and sjws (the tails t shirt).

They had a shirt of tails behind the japanese flag and niggers/lefties on twitter went FULL retard about it. Shit like THIS IS RACIST! and then demanding sega remove a japanese flag symbol because the left and nigs get upset about it.

Sega bent the knee and twitter was like 'guys we did it! Were on the right side of history!'

These same fucking losers got the flag removed in street fighter 2 (e Honda stage) because that too was apparently...TOO MUCH for their weak little hearts.
