Hey /vr/, how come no one talks about Afterlife?

>> No.823839

This was probably the funniest "god game" I ever played. Also probably about the only "economic simulation" I ever bothered with, I couldn't resist after a PCGamer demo disc.

Shitty uninspired Final Fantasy clone.

>> No.824226

How come people say "how come" instead of "why?"

>> No.824235

>>824226
I imagine it's a contraction of something like "How did it come to pass that...".

Looks like some /v/ is leaking in here...

>> No.824273

Because it's somewhat rare and/or obscure?

I remember playing the demo, back when it was released... it was fun, but I'm not into that kind of games...

The problem with afterlife is that it is incredibly repetitive.

you hell is too planned. It should be chaotic and they will complain about it later in game

>> No.824370

It's one of those games that I always wanted to play when I was younger, but never got around to it.

>> No.824409

>>823831
It sold for shit when it was released, so no one here has played it.

>> No.824432

I finally played it recently and was incredibly disappointed. I was expecting something like Sim City 2000, and even though it looks kind of like a Sim City 2000 style game, it's much more like an amusement park simulation where customers are just come in, you have to make sure you have the right attractions for them during their stay and then they leave and there's little interaction or interdependence between the different parts and not a lot of complexity or space for emergence.

I for one wonder why that happened. This gameplay was pretty decent and it does have a pretty good charm, though it does look kind of bland at the beginning.

Shit marketing perhaps?

Also, visually, it's a fucking mess.

Eh, I have this game.
Pretty neat.
Ask me anything.

>> No.824458

I was a huge fan of Lucas Arts adventure games, so when I saw this in a magazine I was like, "Oh boy, a new Lucas Arts game, can't wait to play this shit!", and then I played the demo, and I was like, "What the fuck is this shit?!"

Me too, I never played the full game.

I'm certain I can find the CD with the demo. I think it was on my Klik & Play install disc.
