Have any tales of "the one that got away" when it came to buying games? I'll start.

Passed up an offer to buy a mint copy of a big box Warzone 2100 for $1. I had already bought ten other games the day and was burnt out from buying any more. It's always gnawed away at me.

Honestly, I regret not being a hoarder faggot like 15 years ago. I used to just grab old games when I came across them and occasionally sought out games I was interested in. Prices were so nice I took it for granted.

Basically this. I would buy games at my own pace and pick a couple up every now and then. I stopped for a couple years and the rest is history. Everyone thinks every retro game is now worth $100+ and people pay it and the market is completely trashed. There is about 20-30 games left i would like to add to my collection and it's pointless. I will never pay these scumbag sellers what they are asking.

I just miss being able to go to thrift stores and find retro games at all.

I found a N64 and SNES with, a bit rough, boxes for about $60 right before last Christmas and passed on them since "I need to be more responsible with my money and save it". I fucking hate myself and I now buy what I know I want immediately if I have zero second thoughts about it. Picked up a nice Omega Ruby 2ds for $25 with that philosophy.

Not exactly what you're asking for, but when I was a kid my parents had this weird obsession with wanting me to gift the games I owned to my cousins. "You don't even play them anymore, I'm sure your cousin would love them." Like yes I do, and no he won't?
Meanwhile I still own several of the Gameboy cartridges I managed to hide (including my Mario Land with the paper label I wrote by hand as a child) and my cousins have doubtless lost them or, in one case, sold them for drug money.
I love my parents but holy Christ they are stupid.

I thought that $1000 for Metal Slug AES cart is way too much in 2005
