Medfan is solid, good emulator if you want to just test things out. But for user friendly and best UI i would take duckstation.

If you can't dedicate a weekend or so to downloading plugins and testing which ones work well on your system then you're beyond help. Try out Retrotard, it's more up your speed.

God, don't fucking remind me of this shit. This all was before the wikis existed too or were more known.

No one wants to fuck around with plugins at this point. There's no benefit.
It made sense back in the early 2000s, with wildly varying graphics support and CPUs that couldn't reasonably emulate the PS1 without compromise.
Duckstation has all the relevant visual enhancements, it's configured so that by default, everything should just work out of box, has a database of relevant configuration changes that need to be set for any games that do have issues, and was written with modern hardware in mind.

Twenty one, almost twenty two years past 2000, there aren't any advantages to plugins. You end up just sorting through a bunch of shit that doesn't even work right despite pretty much every PC from the last 5 years being fast enough to deal with the PS1 accurately (eg, with Mednafen -- still annoyed that the dev is still the sort of cunt who won't even bring up a file open dialog if you just double click it; interactive graphical programs that only start up when passed arguments are pure fucking AIDS, there's really no excuse).

Duckstation is good but stenzek is a bitch. Retroarch is a trashfire and plugin emulators are outdated.

People probably wondered why they'd need a new PS1 emulator.
Then they actually realized why -- the existing emulators suck ass. Duckstation is fast, quite accurate, has a nice Dolphin-style UI, and has shit like geometry and texture correction built in if you want.

>>8210805
psxfin has horrible internal timing problems that lead to softlocks (like in threads of fate) or "softlocks" (where the emulated system seems like it gets stuck, and then like a minute later, it unfucks itself)
the only use I ever had for it was a netbook that had some issues with ePSXe

each disc is an independent program. the only thread of commonality between them is the save data. duckstation will associate a blank card with every disc, however it also includes a "change disc" feature that enables bridging the game discs while the system is running so you can save your data to the fresh card

PlayStation emulation was solved by Mednafen, and other devs reverse engineering the playstation. The Duckstation devs know nothing about how to reverse engineer the system, but they know how to code a fast efficient convenient emulator. So they're building upon the work of others.

Create a new text file and then type something like this:
>Koudelka (Disc 1).cue
>Koudelka (Disc 2).cue
and so on, just make sure you get the filenames exactly right. Then save that text file as Koudelka.m3u and add it to Duckstation, after that you can just exclude the individual discs.
