They fucked it up, keep playing the Xbox or GC versions. Physics are messed up and coming to a dead stop is nearly impossible as the ball passively rolls a lot more. Unless you want the novelty of broken controls, can't recommend.

The return of Vocaroo Bob.

Just beat story mode, the physics definitely feel different but I don't hate it. I am surprised how much I like the remixed soundtrack for example. Monkey Target and Monkey Baseball are totally busted though, and the lack of replays on the leaderboards is a little disappointing

Why is modern sega so bad

You can fix it on the Steam version by changing the dead zone from circular to square - the old games used a square dead zone

Highly doubt it'll fix the overall physics model and overall feel compared to the GC version. Loaded it again and it's like night and day.

An aside, but holy shit is the Xbox version actually laggy as fuck or is it Xemu? Some emulators lag, I understand that, but on my VRR setup Dolphin feels like hardware and instantaneous while Xemu feels like pushing through maple.

They shouldn't have included the Sega Shiturn in the game, everything related to that piece of shit always ends up being cursed.

(You)ing myself but the lag is definitely Xemu's fault. Dunno if it's this bad in every game but it's yikes-tier in Monkey Ball and I figure input lag needs to be reduced in general. Just tested it on 360's backwards compatibility, and it was far more responsive even on that.
