Coincidence....?

They were only good on N64

treasure should've made their own console. call it, the good game system of the 90s.
we would have loved it.

None of those games are Sin and Punishment, Gradius V, or Astro Boy.

Top Ten Most Gimmicky Treasure Games:

#10: Alien Soldier (Treasure's boss-rushiest game; what little level design it has is pretty much a fucking joke)
#9: Sin & Punishment (turns into a sidescrolling run 'n gun on the last level; final boss is Missile Command)
#8: Stretch Panic (more of a half-baked tech demo than a proper game)
#7: Dynamite Headdy (turns into a 10-minute shmup halfway through the game)
#6: Silhouette Mirage (polarity system makes the game feel too contrived)
#5: Radiant Silvergun (scoring system makes it feel too much like a puzzle game)
#4: Ikaruga (has both Silvergun's puzzle-y scoring and SM's polarity gimmicks)
#3: Gunstar Heroes (Dice Palace; second to last level turns into a shmup)
#2: Gunstar Super Heroes (see Gunstar, but also the inclusion of Sega "homages")
#1: Mischief Makers (entire game is basically one shitty new gimmick after another)

>Sin and Punishment
Too casual. I'd rather play the magnum opus of the rail shooting genre: Panzer Dragoon Orta.

>Gradius V
Worst. Gradius. Ever.

>Astro Boy
The bmup stages in that game are LOL. Does it even have more than 5 different enemy types?
Also, even worse slowdowns than a Snezz game during the boss fights. Pathetic.

Imagine if they were still at Konami to this day, they would of never gone into pachinko and leached off of Kojima and Igarashi (and that they would have never left as well) and get Umezaki and Ebisu laid off.

>don't even make a game that is different from what I expect
>I don't like different! I don't want things that are different!

The industry has brainwashed you into just accepting the same boring generic formulaic shit every game, and when any dev has some kind of artistic integrity or creative vision that makes them deviate from that, you lose it. You've got brainworms kid.

Money/lack of pay and forced to make redundant sequels they didn't want to make after the MSX started to flounder due do lack of horizontal scrolling, index colors (16 out of 512 colors isn't enough) and sprites, heres one of them.

Here, copymonkey this a bit and then you can move on to some actually hard shmups like Space Harrier and Night Striker.

Shmup players being obsessed with difficulty over literally every single other quality a game has to it are directly the reason why their genre degenerated so hard over the years.

>> No.8194386

>>8194276
It's funny as shit because the most critically acclaimed games of all time aren't that difficult. Challenging? Absolutely. But 90% of games do not fall in that category of intense difficulty. Even shit that has a reputation, like Castlevania or GnG can be bested with practice and pattern recognition.

This is the brain of a shmup player. You say "there's more to games than challenge" and they say back, "WUT, YOU DON'T LIKE CHALLENGE??" like an ogre incapable of really computing the entirety of the thought.

While it's true that some scarce goons from the shmup general at /vg/ dislike Ikaruga for being known among normies, they don't have a raging hateboner for everything Treasure did.
The OP of this thread is Australia-kun, who isn't a shmup player, and is also not a console player, he only likes british microcomputer games and hates console games, especially Nintendo. He hates Treasure because he knows the games are good and he hates that they made exclusive stuff for Nintendo, it's stronger than him, he can't resist outing himself every time he posts on /vr/.
Either laugh at him or ignore him, but don't believe that he's a shmup player, or a sega fan: he's neither of those things. By attacking shmups or Sega, you're doing exactly what he wants.
