Well, no. It's a "shit happens" kinda deal.
Without the goddess to protect the civilised world from the desertification, the cards are on the table. Peco sprouting up (or the embodiment of Yggdrasil if you prefer) was the embodiment of a fighting chance. I love the game because it's so open ended. Did you royally fuck the world up by defeating Myria or did you pave the way to a golden age of discovery and technology?

Some ancient people built a spacestation with godlike AI or an artificial being or something, then blew themselves to hell in a war. Myria was unable to stop it, so she tried to direct the world from then on in such a way that no people could ever become so powerful again (ie killing the dragons) and initiate another apocalypse. She justifies this by halting the expanse of the desert that that was creation when the original civilization was destroyed. Myria argues that without her, everyone would have to fight to survive and no civilization could ever emerge again, but the party believes the world can make it on its own.

Dammit every time I think of BOF3's ending I get pissed off. Not only did nothing happen after you beat myria, even before you fight her, no one is making a bit of fucking sense in their reasoning as to why they want to defeat her in the first place except Pico who actually decides to bring up the valid point of not wanting the destiny of the worlds inhabitants to be predetermined by Myria.

And it's such a great game too. Shame our hero's have no fucking clue what they're fighting for. Aside from Pico, the best they could come up with was destroying the prosperity of the entire world so that Ryu could do what he wanted and be free, and it's not like they had to confront her for him to be free so what the hell?

Because it's shit. It's cast is mostly shit. Ryu's quest is incredibly boring and shitty with some awful pacing. Even it's color palette is way too brown like shit. Save for everything about Fou-Lu (including his music) and Ershin's backstory there's few redeeming qualities about BoF4. Doesn't help matters that one of the main villians, Yuna, gets completely forgotten about either.

I haven't played in a long time so maybe my memory is a bit off but... what the fuck was up with that fairy sidequest/minigame? I remember that you basically had to build a fairy society but there was little direction on how to do it. I got to a certain point in expanding/building, which was clearly the the finished product, and then they just stopped doing shit.
Did I fuck up something, was this part unfinished, or was the port just shitty?

You could make fairy merchants and at the highesst level they sold exclusive equipment.
There was also a gift store and something that could give you the best bait in the game. Most of the other stores were fairly useless.

I apprentice my Ryu to D'lonzo and Meryleep until his speed hits the low hundreds. Mostly because I don't want to wait until I get Rei back to have good speed. Then just put Ryu at the head of that speed formation and bulk up the rest of your party members on other masters, and transfer Ryu to a high HP and AP master.

No argument here. For all the good in BoF3, it was difficult to push on because it didn't make me care as much about the characters or world as 2 did. I think this is mainly because 3's plot just dragged on too much with nothing really happening. 2 solved this by having a lot of character-based subplots.

Also wasn't a huge fan of the masters system.
