oh hey neat they left in the Famicom controller bonus and didn't bother changing it to an NES controller for the North American release. But then again it's not like anyone will ever get this far in the game to see that anyway.

What unholy spawn of Satan's Satan designed this game?

I beat this game without save states or cheating in the late 90's. Yeah I continued a million times but I still beat it legit.

The game isn't actually that hard except few brutally difficult spots, the most infamous, of course, being that last platform in 8-3.
I think 7-3 also gives you a hard time, but everything else is doable if you know game's tricks.

I'm trying to remember the game where they left a bunch of Japanese Yen symbols in a non-Eastern context and it made no sense

Hudson actually released their Joycard controller on western shores, I think it was one of the first third-party NES controllers on the market at the time.
