That isn't dialogue. Those aren't subtitles. The text you see in the screenshots is the internal stream-of-consciousness of the character you're playing.

This is an open-ended adventure game with no inventory or conventional puzzles, where your main means of interaction consists of wandering a compact but dense and fucking creepy amusement park, encountering carnies, and SWITCHING CONTROL OVER THEM. You can then walk around as them, to places only they can go, and witness certain timed events which only they can see. It's a mystery, designed to be played through multiple times in order to unravel the whole plot, and there are alternate endings and certain random events, I believe.

It's a deeply fascinating game, and you'll never see anything like it other than the (two?) other works by inScape. Of those, I also highly recommend The Dark Eye. Haven't played the Devo game yet.
