True, but Carmageddon still sucks big time. It's more to talk about the game saying "dude you can like drive car and like smash people with it and they like go all like BAAAW and like blood and guts everywhere dude RADICAL", but when you sit down to play it's it controls like ass and tracks suck too.
It's more fun to see people get legs blown off in GTA 3 than to do anything in this turd, there is a reason it's forgotten and nobody gives a shit about it.

I repeatedly tried to play Carma and didn't really understand what the point was because every race just ended up playing out the same "kill all the racers" demolition derby way. Eventually on one of my attempts, I got to a snow map where the track was in a town, but if you went exploring outside the area you'd find a whole underground research facility. At that point I realized "oh, I guess it's kinda open-worldy where you can go check out these big maps surrounding the actual track," so I realized it was probably a technological marvel at the time. But it still doesn't seem very fun once the novelty of how big the maps are wears off because you're still either going to race in this tiny track or drive around to crash into the opponents the same way you did every time before. (I can't fucking fathom anyone actually going for a full pedestrian genocide.)

The only good console release was Carmaggedon on PSX, made in-house by SCI. The problem is that it was only released in the PAL region. All the others were complete crap, except for TDR 2000 on the Game Boy Color, which was canned, but recently leaked due to a Nintendo mega-leak. It has black magic FMV intro shit-fuckery, so check it out too.
