Now that the remake is confirmed, discuss the original and was it actually good or simply average + Yuzo Koshiro.

>> No.8168516

the sidescrolling looks pretty jank, but to be honest the original was too.
the town building aspect has some differences now too, there's a new kind of RTS where you have to defend the town

>> No.8168517

>>8168432

Yeah. You could find powerful spells (for the sidescrolling sections) here and there on the town map, and general town growth would I think increase the length of the Master's life bar.

The main purpose was of course to provide atmosphere, to fictionally justify the Master's efforts to go into monster dungeons personally on occasion, and to make the game longer and more interesting. But there was a bit of mechanical connection to the action scenes, too.

>> No.8168536

>>8168516

The sim part looked pretty good, for the brief moment they showed it.

>> No.8168551

>>8168516

Hm that doesn't look too horrible I guess. I mean it's uglier than the original of course, but that RTS thing seems like a good idea. The original did need something like that. Who is the blond axeman supposed to be though? He shouldn't be some human from the town, if he's able to fight a large squad of monsters by himself. Maybe he's an angel?

Whatever. AS SAID IN THE OTHER THREAD if you want good action then you can just play ActRaiser 2.

And if you want good SimCity you can play SimCity. If you want good RTS or tower defense or whatever then you can play any number of games. If you want ActRaiser you can play ActRaiser (the original). Oh well. I guess the people who would need to be told these things can't receive any such message because they are much too busy remaking Final Fantasy IV again.

>> No.8168556

Yeah I hope they add a proper arcade mode for the real platforming game so gamers can get into it at the start without slogging through SIM City shit

Best thing about original was platforming anyway

>> No.8168558

>>8168551
it seems that they added some characters to facilitate the RTS aspect.
maybe they'll travel with you and you get one or so in each town.

>> No.8168562

>>8168556
Euro version let you enjoy arcade mode by default and there are patches online that let you access Professional mode in the US/JP versions now without having to finish story mode, which is just a waste of time let's be real, people played it once and then stuck to professional mode for the replay value

>I genuinely dread the obscure games I like getting remade
Why? How is it in any way going to ruin your original game? Are they going to come and take away your original copy and force you to only ever play the remake?

It's not fun. Puts it in modern era. I don't want normies to ruin it. It's like when eva is on netflix. I'm not stupid enough to believe it's some esoteric show with a small fanbase but my first reaction was 'oh no'

>> No.8172582

It doesn't ruin it though. Your original game is still there in the same form it always was. Nothing about that changes.

Enjoy your original game, and if a remake is good then enjoy that too, if not, then who cares, you have the original.

Ehhh... the platforming felt too loose and imprecise (which the sequel overcorrected too hard on), and the sim sections were mostly padding since you couldn't lose them or miss any items.
