Having the ability to whistle to attract guard attention is an amazingly elegant solution to the "wait around for a guard to move somewhere else so you can sneak by" problem most stealth games have. Other modern titles like Dishonored really don't get it right. A videogame should always encourage player agency and stealth titles always discourage it.

>stealth titles always discourage it.
Stealth titles do have amazing player agency, unless you cling to autistic "TrUe GhOsT" playthroughs. Every stealth game (except MGS1 perhaps) has a way to distract enemies, be it shooting darts, throwing object or causing noise of any type. In stealth titles you're the one setting the pace. The enemies react to you, not you to the enemy. How is that not player agency?

I only played the port on the DS, and to have any kind of sensible movement you needed to either possess three hands, or maintain a ridiculously uncomfortable and straining grip where you held the stylus with one hand, which was also on the buttons and shoulder button.
Didn't play it for very long, because I didn't want to ruin my hands. I assume that the game is much better on other systems.

The fuck are you talking about

PS2/GC are different in level design because the consoles couldn't handle the whole levels, so they had to be partitioned in "sections" that had to be loaded. You can compare them in youtube:

GC bank level https://youtu.be/WHQjhn_2yNk?t=2445

PC bank level https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAazTlKyIZ0

You'll go to hell to trying to dupe people into buying the downgraded PS2/GC versions.

>> No.8160307

>>8160279
Having loading screens doesn't make the level design "different". It's still the same geometry, same objectives, etc. It's the same, just on lower hardware. Your videos prove that too.

Compare both versions of double agent, now THAT is different.

CT is somewhat different

The DA version you're confusing stuff. Because it's the same case as CT, where the PS2/GC/Wii are slightly different from OG XBOX due to similar constrains. It's the 360/PC version the one that is a completely different game. So there's actually THREE different versions of DA.

not everything is black and white
CT PS2/GC isn't still the same as PC/XBAWS

The bank level which is open ended and circular in the PC/XBOX versions, providing several options to the player, gets obliterated in PS2/GC for a more linear experience.

Even if you don't agree (and you're a dumbfuck for defending the indefensible when there's proof online), PS2/GC still have downgraded graphics so it's a downgraded port. In addition to altered level design.

Of all the stealth games to exist, I honestly have to say that this is the one that also exists. Stealth as a genre will go down in the history of video games and be looked back on, and this game right here was within its parameters. The graphics on the XBOX Splinter Cells are so good that to be honest, XBOX DA is pretty close to what a PC version of Double Agent would look like if the X360 version never existed.
I'd just buy an XBOX but I have way too many videogames already, so I can only wait for emulation to finally happen to this particular title. The PS2 version is an OK substitute but once you see the bawx version, you really don't want to go back to it.

Kojima may have thought whatever of the dub, it substituted the japanese voice overs in MGS Integral because Konami executives were impressed by how after hearing the english dub it really seemed like a hollywood film for them, the tradition carried on for MGS2 but tht one may had broke Kojims because its a very bad dub made in two weeks vs the whole year he spent doing the japanese version, also the casting is horrible, something hapened no doubt becuse MGS3 had the japanese vice overs for subsistence and they even bothered putting substance in japanese for the HDcollection, which meant voicing new lines for the substance exclusive content.
