I don't see why people make a big fuss out of tank controls, sure they are a bit clunky, but they are fine when you get used to them, and they are a good way to navigate a 3d environment without and analogue stick.

Simply put it's a difficult with adapting to anything different than what they're accustomed to. In the coming collapse these people will be burdens who will be quickly thrown to the wolves.

Because saying you dont like them or that they are hard is a good go-to troll

I don't know why people bother trolling here, redd
it is way better. They're the perfect comedic foil

If you look at it from a modern perspective, they suck

If you look at it from a pre-analogue stick world then it was the only real way to do 3D

Remember, The Saturn and Playstation didnt have any analogue sticks for the first 2-3 years. RE came in March '96, Dualshocks predecessor was released April '97, pic related came in May '96. Also N64 wasnt released until a month after the 3d Control Pad so no Mario 64 to give an example of how to do 3D

Beta DC controller tbqh, senpai.

How is the stick on these? I was always curious but never wanted to get that even though I owned lots of Saturn games.

Tank controls are good for a slow paced game like this but tank controls in Super Mario 64 would be awful.

RE1 should have come out sooner for the Saturn, and in fact should have been a simultaneous release. RE2 not coming out for the saturn is a real crime against humanity. It would serve as a nice swan song game for the console.

MGS1 has proved this wrong for over 20 years now. Face it, the coders at capcom were simply too incompetent to match automatic player direction and movement to one action

I've seen more reviewers from back when RE1 released praising the controls than criticizing them. They're fine once you get accustomed to them and RE was lightyears beyond the clunky ass movement and combat in Alone in the Dark, which is what those reviewers were typically comparing it to.

I actually really like them for some reason. Is there a definitive list out there of all games that use tank controls?

They don't. Those aren't people.
