I've just emulated GBA games up until now, but I like the idea of having a portable option with my DS Lite. I keep hearing people say these things will corrupt your save files. Is this actually a thing or is it just retards not waiting 5 seconds before shutting the console off after saving?

Dunno, I’m not poor so I went for the Everdrive and don’t have any problems.

I just have the regular omega, not the DE edition. So far I've played through the Castlevanias and Advance Wars and nothing bad happened. I do wait 5 seconds before shutting it off.

I've never had it happen on an older ever drive I got but honestly I'd reccomend getting any model of 3DS for this as if you go looking in pawn shops and such you can find them for around the same price or cheaper than these options. 3DS natively run GBA games too if its injected (easy to do) so you won't have to deal with emulation.

It's this.

but seriously just pay the extra $10 for a definitive edition.

oh NOW easy flash is in a nice cartridge and probably works much better

mine is such a piece of shit i have to leave it in the GCP because of how finicky the contacts are

no flashcart for the micro but all i spam is pokemon anyway

as for file corruption
you can back up your save files via sd
who cares - ive only ever had one fuckup and its probably due to the issues i mentioned earlier

>> No.8143116

Don’t bother with a flash cart. Get a 3ds instead, install CFW and homebrew, then you can run gba games natively.

Don't get a 3ds. It's total dogshit. J can't even tolerate playing 3ds games on it much less Gba games.
Get a DSLite or a GBA SP. Far happier purchases

That's a good option for poorfags or people who primarily value convenience, but GBA games look fucking ugly on the 3DS and the controls are not well suited for it. I prefer using my DS or GBA for DS and GBA games.

You’re fucking retarded. Hold down select when launching a gba game and it’ll play in its native resolution, exactly like a ds or gba.

Doesn't help the dogshit screen and controls.

Yeah and then the image is the size of a postage stamp. And everything's still way too oversaturated.

nah, ezflash just changed it to the more expensive FRAM in the DE from SRAM because it totally worked awesomely in the normal edition LOL

Just get the definitive edition. It fixed the saving thing.

The only problem with Definitive is it doesn't give you the option of the smaller DS lite form factor, so it'll stick out.

If you're using a DS Lite, try and track down one of those ancient expansion packs and use it with a DS flashcart. Much comfier.

>> No.8144315

Thanks everyone for the input. I'll probably just spend the extra $10 for the newer one. Losing out on the flush cartridge kind of sucks but it's not the end of the world.

If it's for a DS, DE is worth it since most of its additions are DS/GBA link functionalities like the pokemon titles. Which makes the loss of ds lite form factor more ironic, but what you gonna do.

I'm pretty sure DE is flush in GBAs and the original DS.

I use the "3 in 1 Expansion Pack for EZ-Flash V" on my DS lite for many years and I never had any issues with save.

The 3-in-1 and EZ Flash IV use a different method of writing back saves to the Omega and Omega DE.
