hidden gems that turned out to be hidden turds,
why early 3D platformers so dull and boring? yet 3D jrpgs from the same era still hold up

This but it’s smashing drive, that game is some prime eurojank trash that namco bought just so they’d have a crazy taxi killer

I remember really liking this in my preteens but for some reason I stopped after a certain point. Maybe this is why.

Notice that most of the favorite games people gush about tend to be strongly limited and not fully 3D from that era? There's a reason, as fully 3D hadn't been worked out yet and it was still experimental. MGS, Resident Evil, Crash, etc all have strong limitations in terms of freedom and are very cramped games.

Great fully 3D playstation games can be counted on your hand. Ape Escape, maybe the Spyro games. Everything past that, has at least some jank with camera or controls. Tomb Raider series is really good but it's still a bit wonky for shooting and camera. MML series is decent but flawed and filled with jank.

Looney Tunes: Sheep Raider is great but I haven't played it.

No I don't notice that except for a handful like M64, Zelda and maybe MGS1? which somehow had good gamplay
