Which make the better game?

f zero is better

Worthless questions since it depends on the game, one isn't objectively better than the other.

Well, lets take FZeroX for example vs any decent arcade racing game that requires skill.

Ace Combat 4 (retro as of yesterday) versus Ace Combat 5

Just in general. It's a better game.

>> No.8136664

>>8136658
F-Zero X requires more skill than most arcade racing games.

>> No.8136674

>>8136661
You have never played a real racing game. If you held a force feed back steering wheel while playing a real racer it would give you ptsd.

>> No.8136681

I don't need gimmicks in my racers.

>> No.8136684

>>8136664
No it doesn't. Arcade racers cost $1-2 to play. They're not giving you a free pass like your console racer.

>> No.8136686

>>8136684
>Arcade racers cost $1-2 to play
Completely irrelevant.

>>8136658
Are you just here to shitpost about F-zero? If not, try a more direct comparison, like the Cruis'n series vs any 90s Sega arcade racer. The Cruis'n games are just meant to be accessible fluff without a whole lot of mechanical depth, while the Sega racers were technical as fuck.

>> No.8136694

>>8136686
Everyone who owned FZeroX beat it. The same can not be said for many arcade racers.

>> No.8136697

>Everyone who owned FZeroX beat it
Less than 1% beat master mode or all the staff ghosts.

>> No.8136702

Yeah, actually. Trying to recreate "real life" in a video game has always been a gimmick, designed to impress people who don't actually like video games.

>> No.8136704

>>8136701
How do you even "beat" an arcade racer then? Just finishing the races? Do you even play these games?

>> No.8136713

>>8136692
FZeroX, Beetle Adventure racing and so on get a reputation as great racers here but you and I know that to be untrue. I wanted to see if an argument could be made to change my mind but so far there has been none.

Sounds like you're just another sperg obsessed with hating the N64 every moment of your life.

It's literally one guy, and he does it every day.

>> No.8136725

>>8136713
You're fixated on those specific games, but ignore the Cruis'n series. I don't think you want to discuss the merit of controls in a racing game. I think you just want to bitch about F-Zero and Beetle Adventure Racing under the guise of an open discussion.

I bought a N64 on launch and have played it more than 99% of you anons. Still own it but for some reason I only have Mario Kart 64 left. Not sure where the rest of my collection ended up.

What I'm getting at is after becoming so familiar with it I feel confident in saying it has no racing games of high quality.

Nobody cares about this gay LARP. What are your best times in Sega Rally anyway?

Cruisin was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it a lot as a rental. Cruisin World didn't feel as good. Going to the moon felt tacky.

this is the dumbest question and only will attract non-racing/car game troons, the answer is as most sane people say "it depends"

Mario Kart 64 is fine.
Multiplayer was great.

>> No.8136742

I 100% agree. One of the best multiplayer games of 5th gen. Controls were a bit jank and graphics were average but multiplayer was fire.

Winning in multiplayer is fun anon but no one gives a fuck about your speed running.

So you don't even play these games. Typical console warring poser.

I've played Sega Racers longer than you've existed Zoomer. No one ever talked about lap times. You either won or lost.

Could this LARP get more obvious?
>You either won or lost.
"winning" in arcade racing games is so fucking easy. Significantly easier than winning in master mode for F-Zero X, which itself isn't hard once you really know the mechanics of the game.

How many anons here do you think could finish Outrun? I guarantee you they all finished their baby racers.

Nice try anon but I've owned and finished more Outrun games than you. Keep talking about speed running bullshit as if it matters though.
