Just go to GameFAQs, and click on all the major Japanese developers/publishers (and any other developers/publishers you're interested in), looking for any Game Boy games they developed (particularly ones that aren't RPGs, Adventures, or Strategies, since you can't read those), and download all of those. This way, you likely won't ever have to worry about missing any "hidden gems" for Game Boy.

When I got my flashcart what I did was go through /v/ recommended games list for GB/GBC/GBA. I already had the rompacks, so I created genre folders and copied the games there, and I shoved the rest in a folder called Z, so that it appears at the bottom on the flashcart menu. Then I noticed I didn't have enough room for saves (8GB card), so I just deleted all the girly games like Cinderella and shit like that and that did the trick.
Noticed the other day that there's a limit of games it can show in a folder, so I have to fix that. I'll simply make several Z folders, like Z1, Z2, etc.
