Admit it - the game is much more enjoyable when you patch it to restore the Japanese health bar and extra lives. To play without these features is a frustrating slog with barely sufficient opportunities to learn boss patterns.

Contra never had life bars so I believe the story that they added them to the Japanese version because Japanese gamers were becoming increasingly casual what with the RPG craze at the time.

I've 1cc'd the American version's train route and the alien mother route with the dude, you just need to get fucking good and practice. It's not that hard.

Also, the US version came out first -- the health bar was added later because Japs are babbies.

You misspelled Cope.

If you remove the health bar then you may as well remove two player mode along with it, because there's no way your friend who has not bought and memorised the game is going to be able to have any fun in your GIT GUD USA!! version.

I beat the US version as a 12 year old. Japanese version is literally too easy. Same with Bare Knuckle 3 it's too easy even on hard mode.

Of course it's easy if you beat the US version first.

why do you hate RPG so mucH!?? it requires tactical logiccal thought like chess with complex engaging storylines. it is not a monkey game like so many other games....

I beat all those games as a six year old, you must've been on the short bus.

>US version is better
Just because american public schools are hell on earth, graduating one doesn't mean it's better than a japanese school.

Contra ended after Super C. Newer games are too gimmicky.

I 1 life cleared it awhile back on two different routes. It's not that hard if you play these sorts of games still. Most of the boss patterns are really painfully basic: very "die first time you see it then never ever again" type shit. There's much less randomized elements and twitch reaction dodging than Contra or Contra 3, though it does have a few bosses here and there like that.

Contra ended after The Alien Wars. Everything after was just an attempt to repeat classic.

Yeah, I don't like Hard Corps that much, either. I prefer Contra 1 and Super C instead

Hard Cope

Also, the game's voices sound like pure shit. They sound like they were recorded by a walkie talkie underwater

That's the part of the charm

No? The game is legitimately not that hard.

>> No.8107037

I have no problem clearing the game without losing a single life.
