The world is pretty cool. Dialogue system is a mixed bag. Whoever decided to send me to look for a cave of incarnate following landmarks in a world that is just uniformed featureless grey hills should be shot.

Skyrim was pretty boring and slow for me, and Arena is too primitive.

Morrowind's combat is a bit slower than Skyrim, but it's very straightforward.

It's easy to pick or spec a character who will have decent enough stats and skills to start out with, and if you're not a fucking retarded knobgoblin, you shouldn't be putting together something completely incongruous if you decide to build your own class.
Carrying some restore fatigue potions with you is very helpful if you have to fight.

On quests, Morrowind has some more depth to it just by the virtue of you being given directions you have to follow to find your goal, instead of just having an arrow constantly pointing you to the next goal. You can also manipulate characters by charming them with spells, improving your personality or speechcraft values (temporarily or permanently), essentially just making your character more likeable. You can also bribe people, which tends to be the easier route a lot of the time, but if you don't know how to make money well, that shit is gonna add up in cost.

Oblivion hurries to the path of dumbing down, giving you somewhat better combat, but then compass markers for quests. It's better than Skyrim in some ways, but I think it has many of the same faults.

one of my favorite things about elder scrolls games in general is just how easy it is to manipulate stuff.

Just make one of those restoration potions.
make yourself have zero magicka cost in all schools and 100 percent resistance to ice fire lighting and magicka resist in general,
armor smithed up to 100.

I know we are in /vr/ but I have the same problem with Dark Souls and Animal Crossing. I really try to like those games but I just can't.

Oblivion was awesome. I remember 2 mods in particular which added to it, a mod that basically added Garret's gear and Basso from Thief The Dark Project, and the Pickman's Model fan questline and housing.

i beat the game almost completely unspoiled and i only looked up 3 things that i couldnt figure out
its way too easy to break the game when you have beaten it once and know where stuff is
i dont understand why so many people say it is replayable
been thinking about playing oblivion but i much prefer morrowinds text over gay va and animations
