It's not surprising. Twitch has long since passed the threshold where they can afford to let shit like this fly. They're big enough and make enough money that other parties will care about this sort of stuff. In order to be a legitimate and lasting business you have to clean up your act and tie up loose ends. Otherwise others will come for your money. And rightfully so in many cases. GCCX of course is too niche to realistically ever cause them any such problems. A stream like this just gets squashed on principle curtesy of the TOS. Honestly they were pretty lax with it for a long time though I do morn the loss and with every successive channel suspension they viewer count dwindles it seems.

Hopefully they follow through with another murder mystery or some other silly thing like they said they might.

I hate this shit. There is no legal way, or really any way, to watch GCCX in the west. It doesn't air on TV, you can't watch it on the official site, there are no BluRays other than the handful they released a dozen years ago and abandoned. Streaming is all we have and they shut that down. Why do they make zero effort to capitalize on the western audience who clearly are fans? Just makes no sense to tell everyone outside Japan to piss off when they could be offering a service to let us watch, even if it was paid.

It's called Prime Video, Netfilx and Co. So unless any one of those decide to pick up GCCX, you're sol. There are examples of this of course, like Terrace House, but that had hugely more potential for success.

>> No.8087261

After the DVDs flopped because the west preferred the original format to the DVD version which is challenge only, and exactly like what the Japanese get. Along with the fact they pushed for years get the show licensed overseas and failed until Kotaku did. it's pretty easy to see why Gascoin hasn't made another attempt?
You also have to remember they have to get the rights for the games to stream it and show whatever products Arino uses in the challenge, to much red tape, not enough reward.

>> No.8087263

I've been mass reporting the GCCX streams. If you want to support the show, buy the episodes on Blu-Ray, but pirating is just stealing.

>> No.8087276

>>8087261
Oh, I'm absolutely positive it'l never happen. I thought that goes without saying. I was more talking about how foreigners outside of US get to enjoy American productions. It's either one of the big streaming services these days or they just pirate it. Which is what everyone will have to keep doing when it comes to GCCX.

>> No.8087329

>>8087276
Foreigners get to enjoy Japanese productions too. You really need to recognize that there's a difference between TV SERIES and TV SHOWS, and that TV shows are in general never made with the possibility for them to be licensed out, streamed, given home releases or any such thing. For the most part they just air one single time on TV and that's it. GCCX is actually very unique in how much of it has been made available on DVD

Pretty sure both the translation and all the western maketing completely scrubbed the game of all references to GCCX, so any connection to the show would've just been mentioned in some footnote about the original Japanese version. I'm sure when you get all of your information from anime and video games (you know, the media made by people who got a job making things that entertained them in their youth) that everyone in Japan is in Tokyo and everyone in Tokyo is an overworked office drone, but considering how the entire world's manufacturing models itself off of those of Japanese origin, I'm pretty sure there's more stuff going on in that country that I've never been to than that. Not to mention how almost all of those stereotypes originate form the 1990s and if you haven't noticed, the Japanese economy has kind of changed since then.

It's like trying to get all of your information of what America is like from media that California makes.
