Realistically would I be able to homebrew my Wii U to become a 'super' Wii U where I could play any generation Nintendo game if I installed it?

Are you high?

>> No.8081940

arguably more of a question for /v/, but yes. between native wii game support, native gamecube game support if you homebrew (really weird how nintendo chose to do nothing with this officially), and VC injection, wii U is theoretically an all-in-one nintendo console

No 3DS/Switch obviously. Also N64 compatibility is spotty. But other than that yes.

Not very

Where would I go to look for stuff like this? Just YouTube "hack your Wii U to play gamecube games?"

No, just youtube "hack your Wii U." Playing gamecube games is intrinsic. Wii U is a glorified Wii which has backwards compatibility with Gamecube processing logic. Which is why a Wii U is capable of perfectly playing Wii and Gamecube games, but is not particularly good at playing Nintendo 64 games. Or future Nintendo console games as you requested in your OP.

Good to know, I'll go hunting. What about portable games and SNES games? I know the Wii U can at least a virtual console but also fuck those nerds.

Virtual console NES, SNES, and GB(A) emulation is pretty good. DS is kinda spotty but better than N64 I think.

So Virtual Console games are basically using the same emulators you can download except the ones you download are up-to-date, Nintendo wasn't re-compiling them to run natively on Wii hardware, they were just productizing the work of the emulation comunity. SNES, GameBoy, and GBA emulation is pretty good and playing them on the Wii will be pretty good. Past that it varies.

Noice I'm excited, I'll get to it tomorrow. Off the top of your head do you know if I'd need any external parts?

>> No.8082000

>>8081935
Yes. It will play ever Nintendo console that was released up to Wii U including DS. However NOT RETRO!

>> No.8082001

>>8081993
i believe you'll need a USB hard drive to play your gamecube games off of... you might want one of those gamecube controller adapter things too

>> No.8082004

>>8081993
Other than having controllers with the appropriate number of buttons and a USB drive (be it a dongle or an external hard drive) to store all the games, Wii (U) emulation requires no extra special sauce. Just follow the tutorials and enjoy custom firmware.

>> No.8082103

>>8081993
You're going to need an SD card too. This should answer basically all your questions:

Just buy a NES, it has all the Nintendo games worth playing

So homebrew emus with roms are just as good as their Virtual Console counterparts? I want to be able to load all my roms from an HDD for all gen 3/4 and arcade.
The entire VC library exceeds the channel limit on an OG Wii, and I am too retarded to get my USB loader to work for emunand. So at this point I'm just saying fuck it and using emus.
