It is probably my 7th most favorite console of all time. As the generations go on, I realize I have less and less games for them, so the appeal of Playstation fades for me over time. However, there were so many great memories from the first system.

Based Jap game fan. The PS1 had a surprising amount of western trash that get shilled here all the time. Only good western PS1 games were Twisted Metal.

Basically no reason to own a ps1 now that you can emulate the entire library on PC.

Vigilante 8 was better.

PS1 had a huge range of game types that meant there was something for everyone. It was in an interesting age when the entry costs were still low enough you got some low budget and experimental content (even the net yaroze stuff) that you wouldn't see on consoles normally. The lower price of games in general meant you could afford to buy many games, which got more of the profits shared around and kept the games market healthy.

We had some competent and really interesting 3D stuff. It was just the right spot for when people started to get good at 3D so you had nice racers, shooters, beat em ups, FPS, etc. and not just the earlier wireframe or weird jank 3D that hadn't the controls or gameplay worked out yet.

We also got some really beautiful 2D and pre-rendered art. Near pinnacle stuff as it was just still in fashion to make a 2D game and the CD medium allowed them to pack in a lot of animation and variety at a high quality and 2D hadn't become completely "old fashioned".

At PS1 prices you could afford to have dozens of games, many more demo discs, etc.

With cartridge systems the much higher price meant fewer games, more risk and no demo discs.

Is it possible to emulate any of the net yaroze stuff? Has any of it been dumped at all?

You can emulate released net yaroze games easily like anything else. They work the same if they were finished.

You can get them off of demo disc compliations but there are some people who have hunted down rare and particular ones. Some of them were really good.

There was a really awesome, I guess MOBA type game? Before MOBA was a thing. You captured floating islands and produced AI controlled fighters and bombers. You had your own craft and could also take part in the fights to help tip the balance. It was great fun. Large numbers of craft flying around in this simplistic but surreal environment.

Your wish may have come true, anon. I got a PSX and FF VII a few weeks ago and I'm having a blast with it. I got my hands on Crash 2 yesterday and Crash 1 is on its way. Really wish people would stop put the prices so goddamn high for certain games so I can actually get good games.
Any recommendations besides the Crash games and Symphony of The Night?

psx is one of the cheapest consoles to buy games for

I don't know about you, but I've seen more tards put stuff like Twisted Metal 2 and SoTN for like $200+
And it only gets worse that there's no place to easily gat older games where I'm living, so forgive my want for less expensive games that are good

Use an ISO file like a White man.
