Is the PS1 gonna get harder and harder to enjoy with age compared to something like the SNES?

Things like ackward controls, janky frame rates, etc. Becoming huge problems with time?

Is this question from the past? We already knew ps1 was shit 20 years ago. The entire generation and pc from that era as well, all of it was a mess with 1 out of 100 titles being remotely worth the effort.

I started with the nes with SMB/Duck Hunt and PS1 is by far my favorite library of them all.

In fact, I've started noticing people are beginning to appreciate PS1 aesthetics more and more lately(although you referred to actual issues, but you get used to them quickly).

SNES had awkward controls sometimes too and quite a bit of slowdowns. I personally go back to enjoy my Ps1 much more often than any snes games.

Same. Favorite console in terms of the games on it but once the ps2 came out I only used that instead, and now I only emulate on PC.

But before then it was great putting the gameshark on the ps1. Also the spring so you can open the top while it's playing, I think it let you play imports and bootlegs too.

ps1 was difficult to look at again when the ps2 came out. it has aged poorly since then.

Even back in the day I never liked the PS1 for the exact reasons you just stated. Even then it was a massive turnoff. Always preferred computers, as they're open to a lot more genres (RTS, RPG etc.) and they didn't have janky controls or gross 3D graphics.

There's plenty of games without janky framerates and retarded controls.

The graphics of PS1-era titles have not aged quite as well, but they have their own charm for those of us who remember when that was the state of the art.

You can always upscale and apply post processing to make them look better too. Just gotta ignore the autists that scream about "purity" and "soul".

In short, the well-done games that aren't jank will likely thrive for a long, long time.
