This used to be the most revolutionary and incredible game ever and now it just looks like a bunch of polygons floating in space ;_;

>> No.8038449

But 1 - 1 isn't red?? What is with you zoomers making up dumb connections where they don't exist?
1-1 was brown. Also it didn't look like the chef was being stingy with the cheese at your shitty pizzeria, it looked like brick blocks. If it was meant to look like 1 - 1, they would have made it a lot more obvious. Nintendo isn't really subtle about nostalgia wanking.

Every game looks like a bunch of floating polygons if you'll look at the level map from distance.

This may shock you but the game worlds are usually floating in black limbo surrounded by huge sky texture. There's nothing beyond the border :(

As you can see from the color values, the mountain's dirt is approximately as red as the lower sky is blue and the grass and trees are green. You are probably confused because most browns are predominately reddish colors, but as you can see from the color of the dark footpath, a "dirt brown" has a far lower % of red in it, more like 3:2:1 R:G:B.

Wow anon thanks for taking the effort to bolster my point. I always thought the reddish color of that level looked weird to me. It stood out as odd and finally realizing it's approximately the same color as the ground in SMB was the first time the color choice of bobomb battlefeild made sense to my reasoning. I would have said the dirt path is unmistakably brown but claiming the mountain is not red is unreasonable.

When I first played VC it felt like the city was larger than the city I actually lived in with a population of 90k. Now I look at it and it'd take 5 minutes to walk across this map.

>> No.8041609

It's basically dark orange (if you don't believe me put something orange in photoshop and adjust the lightness). I think the reason we see it as a different color is because brown is such a common color in nature whereas lighter oranges are quite rare, so for cognitive and survival reasons it makes sense to perceive it as its own thing for identification purposes.

The town map for Megaman Legends seemed so massive as a chuld but it takes less than a minute, maybe two, to walk all the way through and around it.

Also the exploration hubs for Sonic Adventure. They seemed so much more massive as a kid. As an adult when I play them, they are just a straight path to the level and take less than 10 seconds to explore if you already know the path.

you can fly around it on noclip.website if you want, the fact is that the sims version is the first 3d map that shows up if you google 'vice city map' so everytime someone talks about how small it is they end up posting that shit
