If you slash someone with a sword, they fucking die
pretty simple

This game is overrated. Pretty cool game, but also gets boring fast. I'd rather play a Street Fighter game or something.

Overrated by whom?

>> No.8018000

This game was a blast in two player, really unique fighting game since the weapons and stances force you to change up the strategy more than the character.

No idea, it's an amazing party game for all the shit you can pull off. Having all your limbs disabled and getting that last desperate lunge where you slice the other guy center mass is awesome and makes entire rooms erupt

Didn't /v/ or /vr/ do an online tourney once?

No it doesn't. Even assuming you have no friends for multiplayer you can at least try to master every weapon and even after that you can still switch characters for subtle changes in the movesets and timing.

Not being another pointless Street Fighter 2 mimic actually does a lot for a fighting game.

This. I haven't played it since 2001, but I remember it fondly. It's a great game to play for 30-60 minutes when another game has gotten stale.

this board. It does lack a bit of staying power.

I think that's the only game on psx that I have an interest in emulating. Really enjoy the fight dynamics.

I like aspects of this game on the n64. You have the standard health bar system, but also ring-outs, throwdowns, and knockdowns all culminated in a point system. The only other fighting game that I know of that doesn't seem like another sf clone.

A unique gameplay system that worked.
>unfortunately
The "muh superior 1000-fold honor system" quickly sucked the fun out of the game. The worst part of fightin' games, forced rock-paper-scissors gameplay, was a core requirement.

true of every fighting game if you don't play multiplayer

Brilliant simplicity in its design.
No health bars.
No time limits.
Just you, your opponent, and your weapons.
Death is determined by where your opponent was striked at, meaning one hit kills are a very real possibility.
Injured limbs can affect your movement and fighting ability, increasing the tension and making fights very dynamic.
Matches can last anywhere from a couple of seconds to nearly ten minutes or more.
Compelling visuals, soundtrack, and atmosphere too.
