I dont know for sure, but I did recently find a picture of me at 2 or 3 years old playing Sonic on the Genesis. So probably that or Cool Spot, which I know we had because my mom played it.

A top-down, upwards-scrolling, Western (as in rootin', tootin', shootin') schmup. My elder brother remembers the game too, but not the name. I've search for old western games but have never found it.
The background was 90% sand, i.e., yellow.
Chess too, my dad and brother had copies waaay back, chesss2000 or something like that, the supposedly first good chess ai, but that was later.
