7994615 No.7994615 [Reply] [Original]

Are there other optical disc console games with no loading screens at all like CvS1 for Dreamcast?

The game loads during the match preview where it shows your opponent

But the transition is so smooth you don't even notice that.

>CDplebs have to wait for their games to load whilst arcade chads get to play right away

Consoles were a mistake.

The arcade version was also on optical media

That's vanilla. OP posted CVS Pro. Pro was on GD-ROM.

Original Ridge Racer loads during a game of Galaxian, after that you can take the disk out, or replace it with a music CD to play your own BGM.

But the NAOMI preloaded the entire disc and held it in memory (for up to 72 hours without power, too).

Yet it has no loading screen, solidifying my point.

Then why'd you specify "CDplebs"?

If I'm not mistaken, there were 2 naomi versions. Cart and GDrom.

As mentioned, the cart version is vanilla CvS. The disc version is CvS Pro (which is what the OP posted)

A lot of Dreamcast arcade ports had no loading screens (there was loading but they were "hidden" and you had to pay attention to where they were). DoA2+LE is one good example, an initial 5 second black screen then it's seamless for the rest of the game

There is still the opening load but during gameplay there’s none for soul reaver on ps1

I don't remember loading screens in grandia II, it was just a black screen for 2~3 seconds.

It bothers me that there's no English version of this. I prefer it to to 2.

>black screen for 2~3 seconds
Literraly a black screen when the game loads. A loading screen.

>> No.7998256

>>7996850
Bro, you don't just magically fill 50 to 200% more RAM from nothing. You have to load it at some point, and most games did the bulk of loading at the top, and did very minor stuff later on.

That said, some games like Marvel Super Heroes and Cyberbots still had loading screens between fights and major scenes.

To answer your question explicitly though, XMvSF has a big fat Now Loading right after the Capcom logo video, and MSHvSF hides it during the copyright screen at the beginning.

What the fuck is the matter with you? It is a goddamn fighting game you don't need to read jackshit to play it.

>> No.7998428

>>7994615
Just because it doesn't explicitly print "now loading" on screen, that does not mean there are no loading screens. I mean come on man, are you the millenium retard 2000 or something

Clearly I have played it, and thoroughly enjoyed it without English, as I said I preferred it to 2. It would just be nice to get the win quotes in English, since there's a lot of new stuff in there over the original that's specific to the characters and who they beat, and that is a lot of the charm of this game as well since it's a mash-up of the two brands.

CvS' story is very dull and unoriginal anyways.
If you said something like Samurai Shodown or KoF then I would agree.

>> No.7999787

>>7999691
Did CvS1 even have a story?

>> No.7999850

Not at all.
You just fight either Vega or Geese in the end and there are no special endings whasoever.

>> No.7999929

>>7999850
I think the theme of the game is you, the player, are passively watching TV and channel surfing though each match

>> No.8002038

That's why Capcom vs Snk 1 is superior than 2.
