if it was SoR2 vs FF1 there'd be different answers; but as a series FF failed. I like FF2, 3 and Mighty a lot but they are weak.
At least SoR has two great game in its series, 1 and 2. FF has 1 great game, 1 good game and 2 okay games.

Streets of Rage by a land slide, even the worst SoR game is better than the best FF game.

SoR has no bad games, people argue about which is better 2 or 3 but both are great with each having strong and weak points. SoR as a whole is a solid enjoyable series from start to finish, FF just kind of slipped into mediocrity and to be honest was just never on SoR level to begin with.

There isn't much to say. FF1 is designed to rip off people and its fan like to pretend that's what makes it good and the rest of the world doesn't get it. I'd say the fact that it's an arcade game is exaclty what brings it down but then again some arcade beat em ups like Cadillac & Dinosaurs weren't designed with such a high level of bullshit, so it's entirely on the game's, not the platform.

Someone claiming Streets of Rage 2 is better than Final Fight is how I know he's a scrub. Anyone who sat down to play the machine for more than an hour will recognize the simplicity of the mechanics, but the complexity of the enemies and the programmed encounters. It's a crowd control extravaganza and it's designed to be tough as nails, but always possible to beat if you know what you're doing. People doing 1ccs (without infinite faggotry) of this game are and always will be based.
It's not like SOR2 is bad, it's the best genny game hands down, but FF is in a higher plane of existence. Verification not required.

FF1 is a decent game, but it's not that good.

I like the uncensored SEGA CD version a lot, especially when you compare it to the original Streets of Rage, which was certainly slower and didn't have that great of a presentation, but FF can't beat SoR2 or 3 in either presentation or design.

I like playing on real hardware, and the Sega CD version (with the color hack and the uncensoring) is pretty close to the arcade version. It also has the sick voice samples in the opening.

I have played the arcade version on a real can way back on the day, and generally felt the same as I recall, but it's been a while, and I don't have a point of reference for it now. No arcades near me carry it.
