What's the definitive version of Rayman?

Burying it and playing the sequel is the definitive Rayman experience.

PC is the only version with all of the content

Saturn has the best visuals and soind, followed by Jaguar unironically.
DOS had 8bit color sprites.
PS1 has shite midi and sfx

I played the DOS version with the music fix at PC Gaming Wiki and it was a fine experience. You're going to farm a lot of lives (that's what I did), or use cheats. Guides are also a must.

PS1 > Saturn > PC > Jaguar

Some sources say that certain versions of the PC game have the full soundtrack, but in my experience this has never been true. If it is, it's rare.

Anyone who puts Jaguar anywhere other than last has either never played it or is joking, it butchers the game in every way. I also don't know what people are talking about when they say PS1 has worse music, see for yourself, movies are better too:

That has a 560mb+ disc as opposed to a normally 60+mb disc.

The Jaguar version looks and plays like a prototype, lol.
Its music is also incredibly repetitive to the point of it being so annoying that it distracts from the gameplay.

to add to this. the pc version has a smaller resolution, in the pic you can see how the floating platform is barely visible on pc, so It's cropped basically. Also foreground objects are missing.

If you REALLY want to play all those fan levels, do so after you've completed the main campaign on console, that's the best experience imo... And even then the old level editor has been surpassed by Rayman Redesigner just recently

Some of the background changes on Playstation and Saturn seemingly don't make much sense.

They might be confused by the fact that some music on PSX is sequenced by the sound chip. There are some short rhythmic tracks played in mid-stage areas. All CD music is intact otherwise.

Highlighted in pic is the definitive version. It has the full soundtrack, all three expansions, several bonus minigames, and developer interviews. Any PC version with the level editor and modded soundtrack beats consoles though.

Probably the PC version
