Let's set this, /vr/. Who's best Belmont?.

Richter is the correct answer, search in your Hydro Storm. You know it's true.

Simon.
To be honest, most of the rest of them look like Final Fantasy characters. Richter is ridiculously effeminate and even wears two belts, one of which does nothing.
Simon is just a caveman-looking motherfucker (except in SC IV where he looks like Conan the Barbarian), walking through a castle whipping the shit out of monsters. The gameplay of newer Castletroids is still good, but why did the character design and art design get so shitty?
I appreciated a European-inspired art style for the European-inspired story. Anime made sense when the castle appeared in Japan for whatever reason, but I don't see a reason for the shift across the entire series.

No, but it looks like things that could at least be explained away.
Armor on important parts, but generally lightweight. Excess cloth could be forgone for reasons related to attack behaviour of faster monsters. Headband could have significance related to monsters as well.
It's obviously stylized, but it's at least somewhat believable.
>>794901 has unclasped belts everywhere, giant metal buckles attached to nothing in a vest that's obviously meant to not be closed. Shoulder spikes that serve no purpose. Oversized gauntlets to guard forearms but no protection on vital organs.
FUCKING SPIDERWEB CLOTH ON LEGS.
FUCKING STEEL-TOED BOOTS.
FUCKING TEXTURIZED HAIR.

He's supposed to be fighting the unholy, yet has no crosses anywhere (except maybe those lopsided shapes on his shoulders), and in fact has skull designs on his clothes. It makes no sense. It looks like a scene-goth wet-dream. I can live with the feminine features, but there was no reasoning in this design, stylized or not. Most of it can't even be explained away no matter how hard you stretch it.

I nominate Hector for best non-Belmont Protag so far right next to Soma.

the only down side of the PS2 titles were them getting tedious easily but combat-wise they were fine. applying the metroidvania formula on a 3D is something I'd probably enjoyed when I was like 17 or something but now, I just find it complete shit.

devil forging is tons of fun though and how you can craft weapon and evolve your devils in different ways. it was kinda similar to Devil Summoner Raidou in some ways. I like that.

So in order to make Circle of the Moon canon, they're retconing out Simon's Quest, Castlevania Adventure 2, Harmony of Dissonance, and Symphony of the Night, all of which feature Belmonts using the whip when Dracula wasn't resurrected on the 100 year cycle. Good going.

I have no idea why so many fans NEED ever game to be part of the main universe. It's like insisting every Spider-Man game takes place in the main continuity.

Konami took it from him after that shit fest Wii game. Lords of Shadow wasn't even named as a CV game until much later. There was already a demo out for it before the Castlevania name was slapped on it. My guess is they were waiting for internal politics to conclude before making the break from IGA official.

I have a few 'best Belmonts';

Sonia - first female Belmont(even if she was retconned)
Simon - first playable Belmont, set the standard, and as at least one anon pointed out, killed Dracula twice in his lifetime, once while dying from the curse
Julius - his music is just TOO badass, and he easily makes it clear why Dracula got perma-killed at his hands

>>801128

Are you talking about someone on here? I've only ever seen myself support the reinclusion of Legends into the timeline(it seriously doesn't fuck with the storyline as badly as you think, if you work it out and fill in the blanks a bit), but I've never been jihadist about it, as you say. Even so, it's time for a female Belmont anyway. Shanoa, Yoko, Charlotte, Carrie, Sypha, Maria, they're all fine, but they're not BELMONTS.

No no. It was guy that used to pop up on the rare /v/ Cv threads. He was a regular from the CVD forums and even had a whole easy-cum-website about how Legends should be canon

I don't think it should be because it requires too many "maybe"s. She supposed to the first Belmont, yet her uncle gives her the whip. Where the fuck did the whip come from? It implies Trevor is Alucard's son, which is a pointless mixing of blood plus Alucard doesn't even know who Trevor is later. And then its implied that he and Maria have a kid? For a guy who hates Dracula he sure is spreading that vampire juice around

And the sprites being 10 years old in no way affect my enjoyment of the game. Simon uses his original 8-bit NES sprite, and there's an entire stage based on the original Castlevania with everything looking 8-bit. It's meant to be a nostalgia game.
