In both generations Sony saw higher hardware and software sales, and by an indisputable margin. The only way to convince yourself Nintendo is the most popular is by looking at less relevant metrics like yearly income and chart positions or by including handhelds.

I’m a Nintendo fan. But I like Sony too. And at the end of the day Sony is undeniably more popular. Whatever abritrary metric you tout as proof is just going to be dwarfed by raw sales numbers that show the truth. Just accept reality. It’s not like any of this matters any way.

It's all anecdotal but I'm being honest when I say I don't see them (Switch or Switch Lite) in public. 15 years ago I saw kids playing GBA/DS/PSP everywhere - at the barbershop, the grocery store, the mall, public transportation, you name it.
