probably something along the lines of "let's make something so overwhelmingly based that people continue to talk about it almost 20 years later"

I payed 500 euros for it (guy said it was untested, it seems he actually was, it worked all of it) but it's the ultimate mech simulator. So yes

That peripheral is awesome. Too bad the game was turd sandwiches.

You're that fag from the other thread aren't you? Anyway, you're wrong. It's perfectly balanced

Anyone have experience with using it on PC? Does it work pretty well as a HOTAS/HOSAS? Pedals any good?

I tried some time ago to install custom made drivers but it didn't seem to work, anyone have a link to ones that do?

That's a bummer. Can't imagine what would work better than
https://github.com/caosdoar/SteelBattalionDriver

Needs more power, perhaps? I already have a couple sticks and a throttle, and this thing is mad stupid expensive in today's retro tard shelf and covid market, but somehow it would be nice to know this goddamn anchor of a controller can be used more practically.

I assume they had a lot of spare arcade parts laying around and since arcades had died out everywhere in the world but Japan, they thought why not release it at a premium price for the mech enthusiast.

also, i could never ever find this in stores back then

I always wonder if games with big pheriphals (like Eye of Judgement and this) ever have a place in stores. You really just have to got luck finding it (back then)

never found it in the stores when new, but I did find a copy for 300$ in box with everything about 7/8 years ago at an indoor antique store. Was there until the store closed, always wanted it but guy from what I recall wouldnt go any lower when I inquired if he would do 250$. At the time, online prices were not much different, so I never grabbed it, thinking id find it from my local game store I frequented. Feels bad, wish i had gotten it now, but at least it is not yet to stupidly priced considering its not just a game you are paying for.

I am not the feg from the other bread. I just didn't like it. Not an issue of balance. I felt like I was shooting ants. I was hoping for a more immersive game play, considering the peripheral is awesome. I was hoping for Hawken style game play.

I member a reviewer saying that learning to drive a car was easier than learning to pilot a VT in Steel Battalion.

It looks clunky, slow, and not smooth. Sad. I want this game to be better. I wish Capcom would release something new, that would work with the OG peripheral.

Posted this before but

>playing game in OP
>game deletes your save if you don’t eject before dying
>limited money=limited tries to eject before you lose
>playing very carefully
>near the end of the game now
>walking around in a city getting surrounded by enemy mechs on every side
>it’s not looking good
>decide to eject and start the stage over
>suddenly get hit by an EMP out of nowhere, this never happened to me before and I don’t even know what caused it or even knew it was a game mechanic
>monitor shuts off
>everything shuts down
>can’t eject or do anything but can hear my mech being pummeled from the outside
>frantically flipping switches to start my shit back up again
>manage to get back online and hit the eject switch moments before a missile headed directly for my face blows me up

Possibly the most nerve wracking and intense moment I've ever experienced in my 30+ years of gaming.
