What is it that kind of sucks about this compared to the first game? Is it just the more repetitive OST? The janky ways it tried to incorporate more 3D action? The dumb voice acting? The almost imperceptibly worse control?

It always felt clunkier and slower to me. Plus the voices and this music got old. Tomba 1 is one of my favorite games but I never finished 2. Still liked it and want to come back to it someday, but it was a disappointment in some ways.

BTW tomba 2 has some better endgame secrets. I literally had to cheat to find the 3 hidden towers. To be fair I had no fucking idea what I was even looking for so it felt like bullshit

I never used the wind power except for the stuff that required it, only precise platforming in the first game is in the lava cave anyway which I was stuck on for hours trying to get all the chests without the items falling until I realized I could just use the umbrella

I really don't like how necessary the squirrel suit is sometimes though. Like, I appreciated having the parasol in the first game, but I could mostly get by without it if I wanted to, which keeps the core run, jump, tackle gameplay intact. But in 2 it effectively forces you to have hover-jumping during the snow section, which sucks when all you want to do is leap on an enemy or something. Then you get to the woods and you feel like you still need to have it on because it's just such a mess of small platforms and bars. Even after you get the grapple, it's not quite the safety net it was in 1 because there's more hazards.

I didn't even know tomba 2 existed until I saw the infamous YouTube video. Thank god for they cause it was a damn good game. I beat it through and through, including the 2 extra missions only available if you beat tomba 1.

I ALMOST perfectly cleared tomba 1 but I think my game is bugged. I can't finish the cheese quest for some reason, despite having ALL the cheese in the game.
