It's the more censored version with also a much worse multiplayer mode. Live and Reloaded also came out just a couple of years after the N64 version, and these flaws were discussed even then. The originals have a more "comfy" color palette and I guess you could argue the soundtrack as well but the remakes even let you toggle the original soundtrack after you beat the game. That is literally it. Everything else is improved remarkably.

Its always funny seeing lists like this. Its clear it was made by someone trying their hardest to nitpick issues so minor nobody would notice when playing normally while also completely and utterly ignoring all the improvements the new version has. Stuff like VASTLY improved framerate so the game is actually playable, alterations to the most annoying gameplay segments so you aren't forced to spam quickload all the time (you all played this on an emulator don't lie), new music, graphics so damn good it makes the OG xbox look like the 360.

Hell the framerate improvement alone outweighs every single complaint anyone could possibly try to level at the remake. Shit was COMPLETELY UNPLAYABLE at times with framerates dropping and staying completely in the single digits for entire prolonged gameplay segments. Just the thought of playing the military shooter segments again makes me not want to replay the game because the framerate was unforgivably bad.

Zero mission is great, but I would argue nes Metroid is better. It's less linear and you really had to explore, and you felt utterly alone. The remake casualized things and gave way points to important items, but they also gave it obviously better graphics, sounds and extra content. The reason I believe it's one of the best written games is on top of the more obvious humor and great dialogue like the Great Mighty Poo or King Bee, there is also a real meta narrative on video games, especially 3D platformers. That's why money is a "collectable" when it essentially is just a progress gate and you're required to get all the money anyway. Also the scene when you die relating to tails as lives, among other aspects.
Then on top of those aspects the story or plot of the game is sort of an absurdist tragedy, where the tone of what is surrounding Conker goes from the sunshine and happiness of Windmill eventually leading up to the grittiness of WAR before the finale. Conker becomes a bit more actually heroic during these events as well. When the final events of the game take place we're left with actually a very melancholic Conker who has some bitter regrets. If the game was supposed to be a bunch of dumb fart jokes it wouldn't have ended like it did.
Go ahead, tell me what game is better written? I'd consider maybe Deus Ex in competition or arguably better (I wouldn't agree though). Otherwise I doubt you can bring up anything nearly as layered as Conker.

L&R is one of the best looking games on the original Xbox in terms of fidelity and animation.
CBFD is the best looking N64 game period (and it doesn't even use the expanded memory pak, wow)
L&R removed the literal PERFECT re-playable, configurable and numerous multiplayer modes from CBFD. When they originally advertised it with the new multiplayer, I knew it was going to be a letdown. The xbox live multiplayer was fun and I played it a lot, but it doesn't hold a candle to the original. It was a totally different game tacked onto CBFD. From a business perspective I see why they did that, but honestly L&R would still be cult multiplayer lan game if it retained the original multiplayer mode from the N64 original in addition to it's "halo" mode.
i owned both of these games when they came out, and the original is clearly the superior, uncut and definitive version of the game, with the Xbox remake being a visually competent but tarnished revisit.

It has a few pop culture references, but then again it's a game that's referencing a ton of stuff in culture from movies to video games. Also most CRPG stuff is generic fantasy crap. Maybe Planescape or the first Fallout I could understand an argument for, but they also use a ton of written text to flesh things out where as Conker is really laser focused in the sense that it's not relying on big walls of texts and long dialogue strings.
