Replaying this game is like getting teeth pulled, then again the psx port is rough to say the least compared to the dreamcast and 64

I finally went back to this game a couple of weeks ago after decades of not playing it, and while for sure the lack of manuals and reverts from THPS2/3 is definitvely felt, it actually makes for a more challenging experience since you have to rely on the platforming bit more than all the other aspects. If you're into these games, it really helps you focus in on your technical shortcomings, which for someone like me who relies on manuals was hard to deal with at first. Also, the soundtrack is really nostalgic, listening to New Girl again almost brough a tear to my eye.

It never takes me long to get used to the clunky gameplay. I gotta say the game is great, if you could manual the game would be 10/10.
How you can wall ride but not manual is beyond me.

>> No.7902034

I had my fun doing gazonga-huge manual chains, but now I like THPS without them. They're kinda easymodo once you get high skills (and stats) and it's more fun to find lines without them. Maybe they could just score them differently or something, I dunno.

THPS 2 has a GBA version. It's quite different, locked isometric perspective, fewer buttons on the controller/revised control scheme, storage limitations (the music is like instrumental loops).

>>7902034
>Maybe they could just score them differently or something
I haven't played these games in a decade, but for a simple fix, instead of having a manual (and revert, etc) add +1 to your multiplier total, have them add +.2 or +.1

Remasters in general are shitty and make huge sacrifices to save money. The COVID-19 shit in THPS1+2 is pretty stupid, but that's hardly the worst of its problems.
The solution is to play the originals and vote with your wallet. Don't buy remasters or remakes, ever.

>> No.7907734

The remaster is better than the originals because it plays like THUG, which was better than the originals. If you disagree, you were probably never very good at the series. I will not be taking questions at this time.

it's actually really easy to do. gameplay wise THPS 1+2 is basically the first 2 games with spine transfers, reverts and a few other tricks from the later games.

sure you get diminishing returns for repeating tricks but being able to pull off 100+ trick combos more than makes up for it.

i really hated the CaS options in the remaster also the lack of spiderman but that was basically it. the COVID shit i felt was put in to explain why there weren't any NPCs in the city levels.

the one thing i can get why people don't like about the remaster is that it's really easy.

THPS2 is one of my favorite games, I have played every single version of that game and the bottom one looks perfectly fine. You're just being a luddite like the rest of this board, the originals aren't going anywhere so you can rest easy. As I see it, the main incentive in this game isn't that it's a replacement, but a modern day version in which all the areas have changed with the times and all the skaters are older. If you're an actual fan of the series and grew up with it as they came out, I'm not sure what's there to dislike.

>b-but harder better

Insecure zoomers like you are reproducing too quickly, videogames are played because they're fun, you sperg. If you have to prove that you're more hardcore than anybody, at least try it with something that isn't the pansiest and dorkiest fucking hobby in the world. At any rate, THPS1 is way harder than baby-tier THPS4, so don't be a poser and play that one if you're all about difficulty.

This is the worst take. You can shit on a lot of cash-ins, but the THPS 1+2 remakes are fucking incredible. 120 fps, excellent visuals, all the old music is back, and sounds way better than it ever did, in fact all of the audio treatment is awesome.

The physics are spot on, and it has plenty of customization options for create-a-park, limiting your moveset, etc. And the extra new stuff is a welcomed addition, but completely unobtrusive if it's not your thing.

One of the best "new" releases of 2020, and you're just doing the same old OLD GOOD NEW BAD routine. If you had touched it for even a microsecond, you'd know it was good, and then you could still go back and enjoy the PS1 or Dreamcast version, because this new one doesn't invalidate those old ones, especially if you enjoy playing on a CRT.

N64 thps1 is kino to speed run with no loading times. I can beat it in like 20 minutes or less.
The dreamcast version of thps1 is beautiful, and the ps1 game is the source of it all.

THPS2 perfectly captures skating culture of the 90s and improves the gameplay and level design. THPS2X rocks also.

THPS3 perfected the engine for the 6th gen consoles and had one of the best soundtracks and character rosters of the whole series.
The ps1/n64 versions are neat to play also.

THPS4 was a change of style for career mode while maintaining the core gameplay that made the series great.

THUG perfected the style change that thps4 started with it's 10/10 story mode.

THUG 2 was bit of let down with it's cheesy story mode and pro skater roster being cut down dramatically. Still had great gameplay and levels. as well as loads of content to enjoy.

American wasteland was fucking based (no loading times + Lil Jon)

Project 8 was kinda forgettable but pretty fun and ok, plus it had Jason Lee in it.

Couldn't get into proving ground on ps2. I've heard the 7th gen versions were good. still need to try them.

Tony hawk ride ruined my childhood.

THPS5 was broken and shouldn't have been released.

THPS1 + 2 was cool I guess. I liked the games the first time around, and I like that there is a new version I can play online. Although, I kind of miss the old graphics and engine. I'd like an online version of the original games (yes I've played thugpro)

Yikes. Thps1 Probably the easiest tony hawk game. On a good day, I can speed through it in 15 minutes.
Thps4 is actually pretty hard to complete all the pro challenges in, and I'm pretty good at thps.
