there's a corner of mideel that you can push the d-pad in a constant direction and your party will move back and forth constantly
this means battles will happen
you can hold down the OK menu to select attack for everyone
with the right set up, you become invincible
i can't remember what that setup is, but i bet you can do it with phoenix+final-attack and something that lets you absorb MP
you left that shit running over night to come back to leveled up materia
